The owners expanded the old mill building from 1890 for the Powerscourt Distillery. The production facility is housed in an imposing new building. There are three individually made, copper pot stills at the heart of the distillery. Master Distiller Noel Sweeney closely monitors the processes here. With over thirty years of experience in the Irish whisky industry, he's the right man in the right place. Master Distiller Noel Sweeney brought the whisky from his old employer. This 18 year old single cask matured in 1st fill bourbon casks and then received a two year finish in Moscatel casks. Mareike Spitzer from irish-whiskys.de chose this single barrel together with Noel Sweeney. It is the first single cask whisky bottled for Germany. A whisky that has a particularly long finish and a full and creamy taste. The whisky convinces with a complex depth, from different aromas. The notes of the Moscatel finish are clearly noticeable.
The filling is limited to 272 bottles (700ml), not colored and not chill-filtered. The whisky was bottled at cask strength.
