Unfortunately, the Eiko lacks the depth and power of a malt that most of us love. That still doesn't make it a bad whiskey. It's definitely worth a try and the quality is reasonable in terms of price.
    • Nose
On the nose there are light fruit notes of pear, lemon and some exotic fruit. Something vanilla and a touch of flowery that cannot be properly defined. A little dry white wine also catches my nose. There is also a subtle hint of glue on the nose that cannot be missed. First of all, this indicates a higher proportion of grain whiskey in the blend. On the whole, however, the bouquet is balanced, pleasant and quite good.
    • Taste
Here I briefly taste a pineapple note. Then cherry and orange peel. The dram also tastes a little like gummy bears. The white wine note is there again for a short time. But all the flavors listed are only brief and fleeting. Then quickly comes a pepperiness and spiciness that reminds a little of ginger. But unfortunately this is gone again quickly. One is torn here and there whether it tasted good or whether everything was too fleeting. Here the whiskey lacks a little depth and somewhat heavier and longer aromas.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long and the spiciness of the pepper and ginger burns a bit.

Smelling a glimpse of wood, sweet pleasant vanilla taste quickly displaced by some (grain) bitterness, short fade-out. Anyway, good enough for a quick dram but for the same money I’d prefer JW green label or HP 12

Pleasant blended malt without rough edges. Can therefore be too boring for some connoisseurs.
    • Nose
      82 82
First impression solvent or adhesive, which disappears within a few minutes and with a mix of lemon, pear and spices. A mossy smell will develop over time.

Smell pleasant and balanced but not very complex.
    • Taste
      84 84
Light fruit notes that are short and fleeting. Then there is a slight sharpness. For me it's an "easy to drink" whiskey for the evening.
The whiskey lacks complexity to be special.
    • Finish
      82 82
Short to medium length with little complexity.
