The aroma rises strongly from the glass: sweetness, spice, wood. That's promising. There is fudge, but there are also sweet herbal candies with anise and honey and roasted almonds. With a few drops of water, the whisky opens up even more, becomes spicier with herbs and wood.
The whisky is also strong in taste, the alcohol is present but not burning. With a little water it becomes oily, the sweetness is noticeable, but is well contrasted by spice and wood. There's dried fruit, fruit scones with raisins and candied orange peel, candied cherries. Then comes wood with a hint of bitter almonds.
On the palate, the wood remains as a warm wood tone without bitterness, plus the herbal candy with fennel, aniseed and honey.
This is a strong, tasty whisky that has good aromas and a convincing taste. The aromas harmonize well with each other and are beautifully interwoven. This is a mature whisky with a good finish. A fine drop.
