- Seldom has a whisky met my expectations like this. You can literally "guess" the taste of the color and name. A beautiful Ledaig who convinced me with its smoke and - yes, really - with its color.
Of course, the smoke is dominant, but not unpleasant and nicely balanced with the alcohol, so not sharp and no false notes. It is followed by a slight sweetness that you will recognize once you get used to the smoke.
intense, the smoke hangs over everything, pleasant, then a bit peppery notes, campfire and a bit medicinal, the alcohol is well integrated
medium to long, smoke of course, but now I might also recognize a few maritime notes, dashi, seaweed
Directly the dry smoke that a Ledaig must have! Then immediately sweet muesli with lemons and tangerines, salty caramel and slightly dirty notes.
Really thick smoke and the dirty note is immediately there, clear cowshed and black pepper, lemon peel, leather and sweet herb drops
Dry, long and spicy, further thick smoke and pepper, tart and sweet at the end
- A very clean and balanced Ledaig.
