  1. Archer scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

As part of a small blind tasting experiment last year, there was this whisky, among other things. I didn't realize what kind of whisky it was, but I liked it so much I gave it 90 points. After the resolution I was quite flabbergasted: a five-year-old whisky? From the Netherlands? It can't be.
Now I have opened one of the two bottles that I ordered immediately after the dissolution and can confirm my judgment of June 1st, 2021 (see below) with a clear conscience. I still have a tiny hint of sulfur now (which I like in this form and intensity and don't see as a flaw) and it seems spicier on the tongue than it did then, but I still have the surprise of what this whisky can do still with every sip.

Phew Not my taste. Interesting combination of flavors, but not round.

In the beginning a peculiar brittle nose (turpentine, solvent). Alcoholic. Malt sweetness. Some fruit will come through later. After a standing time of approx. 45 minutes: still strong malt aromas and some tart herbs.
    • Taste
      80 80
Sweet start. Has power, well over 50%. Profuse pinching and tingling of the tongue. Malt, a few dried fruits, tart (but not tannic).
    • Finish
      79 79
Metallic young, astringent, tart, with at times sweet nuances.

Full of sherry. Raisins, dates, leather, iron, sawdust, sweet, some cinnamon, cocoa, dark chocolate, in the background light fruit (pear) and speculoos. Very clear

Somewhat hot, rum raisins, milk chocolate, leather, chocolate fruits. Intense, dense and dry

    Blind tasting.
Great, complex aromas on the nose. Can then no longer quite keep up on the palate. Very nicely integrated alcohol and it remains a delicious whisky.
    • Nose
      89 89
Spicy start with vanilla and roasted aromas. Caramel, pine resin. The alcohol cools down a bit. Later on, oat biscuits, plum cake and oak. In the second round, add parsley, wood, tobacco and forest honey.
    • Taste
      87 87
Very soft and sweet at the beginning, becomes spicy over time. Cherry and wood. The alcohol is well integrated.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium-long finish with a pleasant, subtle bitterness. Spiciness, honey and oak. Stimulates the flow of saliva.

    Blind tasting Barrel-strong taste experiment:
Delicious drink! Guaranteed a Michel Couvreur! Weinfinisch, single cask with 48-52% alcohol.
    • Nose
Dark and fermented grapes and berries, first thought: I have an MC in the glass, musty and musty, wine finish, chocolate, cocoa, lovage and dried herbs, guaranteed an MC ...
    • Taste
Creamy, tart, fruity, sweet, caramel, fermented grapes and berries, minimal smoke and spicy rotten wood tones, hazelnuts, I also decide on the taste: An MC!

43-46%, otherwise no idea. But damn tasty. taste experiment 2021 (blind tasting)
    • Nose
Oh yes, spice and sherry flavors, some furniture polish behind it. Tropical fruits, cardamom, cinnamon, coriander, thyme, chervil, allspice, tarragon. Fantastic nose.
    • Taste
Only slightly dry start with tropical fruits and spices. Very full and creamy, makes a difference, despite its presumably low alcohol content. The spices from the nose, as well as dried fruits such as raisins and dates, as well as passion fruit, mango and guava.
    • Finish
Medium-long, slightly dry, spicy, chocolaty, fruity.
