Warm hazelnut milk, candied ginger, Original Vicks, pine trees, buttered toast, and tea. This is an interesting, and tasty, profile for a Glendronach. I dig it.

  4. Corso_theRed scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

I missed that one back in early 2013. I pales in direct comparison to the other wood finishes though. From today‘s perspective, in todays market however, it is a winner
    • Nose
Sweet and inviting, with mint chocolate, ripe watermelon, and honeyed strawberries.
    • Taste
As expected, juicy-sweet with bright ripe garden fruit - peach, honeydew, and a cavalcade of honey and caramel.
    • Finish
Medium. Caramelized oak char and only slightly drying.

  5. keizerjos scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Soft, comforting, easily accessible but not too complex whisky. Pleasant, spicy-sweet scent with a hint of incense. The taste is less exciting than the smell promises. Wood in the dry finish; surprisingly, you'd swear it took sherry casks for a while.

  6. maltaholic scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

    Attractive color, golden brown.

    Pleasant aroma.
There's a slightly sweet wood note
    fruits in alcohol.

    He caresses my palate tenderly.
    The spice comes out.
Liquorice, juniper, a lot of oak.

    Pretty good...

Not your typical Glendronach but damn it's tasty! I really hope they will produce more stuff like that in the future.

    • Taste

  13. Lorion scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

Very tasty, but very woody and kräutrig. 79 points.
    • Nose
Very fruity. Bright fruits, lemons, oranges, nectarines. Wood, very clear and intense, the oak is right there. Not very kräutrig at the beginning, more like untreated wood. Sweet. No alcohol. It gets slightly nutty and then vanilla comes through, maybe a touch of glue.
    • Taste
Woody, malty, roasted walnuts. Tobacco. Spicy, sweet-kräutrig in the Nachschmecken. Chocolate. After a few seconds, the oak begins to tingle, the tongue is occupied.
    • Finish
      Medium. Herbal, slightly bitter.

Aroma : malt, white bread, a piece of biscuit cake with creamy cream, candied fruit, chocolate, nuts and jam; herbs, sweet exotic fruits with sourness, spices (vanilla). Light minerality. The taste is sweet at first, spicy: malt, pepper, vanilla, lollipops, fruit sour, nuts, a lot of oak. In development, she is clearly bitter. The aftertaste is quite long: bread with fruit jam, malt, milk chocolate, vanilla, astringent oak, fading bitterness. Conclusion . Pretty attractive whisky. An interesting experiment with a new oak tree. Overall, good, but not hooked. Rating: 84 (n22t21f21b20).

Do not know why he gets away so bad here, my dearest "bright" Glendronach so far.
    • Nose
Aromatic sweet, vanilla, exotic notes, all set in butter, white sugar, apricot, lemongrass
    • Taste
Sugar cane, peach, then spicy-round oak, nutmeg, ginger, all beautifully integrated, honey, pine nuts, pineapple
    • Finish
Medium long, round, warm, rather dry with a little woody spice

  21. p4blo scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Perhaps the closest you can get to a 'natural' Glendronach, far from its trademark heavy sherry cask influences.
    • Nose
Not overly sweet with vanilla, butter, malt, white sugar and peach. Toned-down Glendronach.
    • Taste
Light and nicely rounded. There is a gentle sweetness of sugar, some nice fruity notes of peaches and apricots and a slight hint of wood.
    • Finish
Medium long, mostly on wood and white pepper lingering on the tongue.

Wonderfully fruity and spicy! Significant input of the virgin oak wood,
providing unique flavours and aromas to the final blend. Well balanced
and rich with toasty oak, coconut and tropical fruits. Incredible depth
and quite delightful. A masterpiece - very savoury and quaffable.

    • Nose
An elegant nose with lots of vanilla, toffee and sweet tropical fruits,
tangerine, banana and apples. Exotic notes of lemongrass and tender oak
spice emerge with gentle coconut in the back. Fresh and tingling.
    • Taste
Soft and sweet with caramel and custard, complemented by a massive load
of spices - ginger, oak, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamon. Silky mouthfeel,
warm and rich with acacia honey and pine candles. Subtle notes of
creamy coconut and tender sawdust towards the sweet finish.
    • Finish
A wonderfully long and sweet finish with warm spices - ginger and
cinnamon, and creamy honey notes on the tail. Well balanced with a
      superb depth.

WITH WATER: Water slightly tames the vanilla and
toffee sweetness bringing the tropical fruitness to the fore.
Significantly bold and intense on the palate with sweet vanilla, pepper,
cinnamon, toffee and prickling oak. The finish is a bit shorter with
warm and vibrant spices. Pleasant, but fades quickly.

Pleasantly and refreshingly different. Very light, almost a "summery" whisky.
    • Nose
Mandarin, then mango and a little banana.
    • Taste
Caramel, light vanilla and hazelnut. Some oak. Sweet and spicy
    • Finish
Rather short, spicy and some banana on the sides of the tongue. Slightly nutty.

Another Glendronach. No sherry, instead puncheon ripening followed by ripening in American oak. But also this experiment succeeded.
    • Nose
Sweet tropical fruits dominate. Besides a lot of mango also bananas. Freshly cut wooden beams in the joinery and some vanilla.
    • Taste
Spicy-sweet, a little ginger sauce, nuts and a little caramel.
    • Finish
Short and dry with nuts and a little ginger.

"A release of 5760 bottles (it doesn`t say this on the bottle)" & not on whiskybase as of yet either. Sending add info for this, so it might or might not be added to the above.

  38. HunterRomario scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
The scent matures fruity, a lot of wood, with a touch of sweetness.
    • Taste
A little bit of a spice, a spicy sweetness that passes into an oak wood, with a warm, warm finish. The fragrance came to me more pleasant than my taste, where I did not have much to catch.

  39. alectron scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

Reminded me of some older fruity Tamdhus that I liked, although this is much sweeter, more 'direct' and nearly too much wood.
    • Nose
sweet ++, vanilla +, young wood (freshly peeled twigs) + , wet moss o, glue o, wet earth -, coconut -.
    • Taste
very sweet but quite nice with lots of wood next to the sweetness, some cookies, butter, fruit, white chocolate
    • Finish
medium length, some savoury notes come through - butter, tobacco. Quite a bit of dryness which feels like it's directly coming from the wood. Might be too much fresh wood for some. I quite liked it, then again I like woody whiskies.
