     Nose:

What is this? Strange sherry? Perhaps. No matter what this is, it has got sexy legs. Fresh fruit, honey,  a hint of brass polish, no trace of alcohol whatsoever.Taste:

Sweetness and savoury notes – these  two sensations are overwhelming here, really charming!

Fruity, but light – very elegant. A dash of lemon on some honeyed wooden board.

    Finish:

Becoming drier and drier every moment, keeps being mouthwatering, delicious, even if it fades quickly.

    Comment:

Quite unusual stuff, it is hard to pin down the feisty fruit aromas here – at least I have not come across this taste before.

Extremely average whisky. Expected that a Glendronach with a 46% stern finish would be softer in taste and aroma
    • Nose
      82 82
The first nose is sharp, a lot of alcohol for a modest 46%.
      Vanilla, perfume, pears, flowers.
    • Taste
      81 81
      Soft, oily. Caramel-sweet with bitterness
    • Finish
      81 81
      Medium, inexpressive, bitter. Oak, spices.

Beautiful dark apple juice. Hangs nicely. Smells like ripe apple, dried fruit, dried fruit. Ripe, full and wide. First taste bitter and lots of wood. Love me my Dronach but this one promises more than it does in the taste, in the beginning. Just wait.
Now it is nutty and with some resin and more and more wood. The aftertaste is dry and quite long. Something of coffee and chocolate gently comes to the fore. With sweet pipe tobacco, what more do you want.
A complex and versatile whisky that requires some perseverance but then rewards with a versatile palette. Unfortunately, he is no longer available. And it was also expensive though.

Hmm, finished eh? This is a pretty strong on the Sauternes... loads of that famous Syrupy wine and herbal counter points. The finish is quite oaky, and rather on the medium-short side... but still quite a delicious after dinner dram.

Wow, there's a load of syrupy Sauternes on the nose here. Straw and barnyard notes, hints of ground herbs and musty grape. There's a bit of mushroom or moss and almost a hint of gravy, like turkey gravy. Sage maybe, and some cream (maybe cream of mushroom soup) mingle with sharp tannic wood and sweet malt.
    • Taste
      84 84
Rich sweets, wine syrup leads a bit here, more oak tannins settle in and temper the sweetness - although they're sharp. The malt has a bit of a hard time shining through the finish; but it's still there. Richness, like an oaky vanilla pudding and some more cask char and fresher herbs. Sage comes back with some pink peppercorn.
    • Finish
      82 82
Medium, still very sweet. This might be desert whisky... syrup and short crust with much sharper oak tannins here. The malt start to come forward here and brings a lot of wood, spice and some more heat. Sandalwood and more pink peppercorn mix with a honey soaked hay bale.

    • Glendronach 14 Sauternes Finish WID: 17050
Abv. 46%, finish in Sauternes Wine Barrels
Nose: directly a very direct sweetness, light grapes, but also a tart component, currants, gooseberries, dried strawberries, delicate oak, almonds
Taste: surprisingly light fruit for a Glendronach, ripe apples, pears, light grapes again, a touch of cinnamon, a hint of ginger or white pepper
Finish: Short, dry and sweet finish
Conclusion: an incredibly dark porridge. For a former standard really a pearl. Sweet juicy and delicious. The current price is unfortunately outrageous. Lucky for all who have a vial in the basement.
