    I'm surprised.
A really successful blended malt that can convince on every level for this price.
Please do not be unsettled by the 70s rating, because someone had to stand out from the crowd again.

An unexpectedly drinkable blend by Ben and Horst Lüning. Very pleasant. A sweet sherry bomb on the nose but a Christmas potpurri on the tongue. Not too complex but a very good every day sip with a pleasant but not overwhelming complexity. A drop for the advanced but not to sink over a glass for an evening.

Dark sherry tones, forest honey, marzipan and mixed nuts. Sweet and heavy tones, Christmas spices. Great color and oiliness with nice legs on the glass wall.
    • Taste
      88 88
Creamy but not as expected or promised by the look in the glass. Cloves, Christmas spices, oak. The sweetness stays behind the nose and turns into a spicy, dry sweetness. Slight citrus note or orange sweetness.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium-long, spicy oak notes that I associate with cloves. Not bitter, a little astringent.

Well done, but not completely appealing to me. The vanilla aromas in the nose are too dominant for me. The finish is the highlight for me.

Lots of vanilla, honey, plum and sherry (raisins, some chocolate). Very cute.
    • Taste
      81 81
Fruity, plum, cinnamon, vanilla, nuts, raisins, some oak, plus dark chocolate.
    • Finish
      83 83
Medium length, warming and tingling. A little pepper and oak seasoning. That fits.

The official tasting note is consistent. 15-20 minutes of ventilation in the glass are good for the whiskey.

    Official Tasting Notes:
Aroma: Intense sherry tones. In the background, fruity citrus notes and a hint of spices.
Taste: At first sweet and oily. Notes of oranges and spices follow.
Finish: Medium-long and intensely spicy with a hint of dark chocolate.
Barrel type: Sherry barrels, first fill bourbon barrels

The whiskey matured mainly in oak barrels in which sherry was previously stored. A small portion of first fill ex-bourbon barrels rounds off the taste. The result is a complex and strongly sherry-tinged whiskey with a dark, fruity and complex character.
