Quite an experience! I really didn’t expect Islay levels of peat but this reminds me of my cask strength Laphroaig!
A nice balance between sweet and dry gives more depth than you might expect from a 5 year-old but of course Adelphi will be investing in good casks!
The nose is sublime and it loses something with water. The mouthfeel is nice, though a little hot and it’s quite easy to drink neat but water brings out the savoury minerality. Something like Ledaig in the style of the smoke but not so much smoky bacon. Lemon oil is in there but I’m not the best at picking out all the notes.
I would buy a bottle if I could but I find £100 already quite enough without flippers selling it for €700 shortly after it’s release. I detest this activity!
