Whisky Reviews for Isle of Jura 16-year-old

4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 82.17 points

  1. Koning scored this whisky 83 points Expert Junior

Definitely more complex than the 10 years old. It is lightly sherried, but luckily retains the typical maritime and 'cheesy' Jura character. It lacks intensity on the palate and is a bit weak on the finish though.
    • Nose
Typical Jura nose with hay, canned peach, dried apricot and cheese. Also notes of cacao and cinnamon, and an edge of mineral sea spray.
    • Taste
Oily and a bit salty. Milk chocolate, some herbs(thyme and cloves), coffee, quite fruity (oranges, peach, apple). All very nice, but becomes a with watery after holding it in the mouth for a longer time though.
    • Finish
More spicy now (cumin, white pepper), black olives, liquorice, bitter oranges, quite oaky.

  2. Malt Hans scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

Fruity and malty aroma, raisins, red apples, toffee, nutmeg and anise. Vanilla sweet taste, raisins, cinnamon, ripe orange and malt. Medium long, spicy and malty end.

  3. Ivynor scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Well done in the sweet sweet kind, but it's not very complex. For dessert.
    • Nose
A liter brought back from Duty-free by my father, because there was no more laphroaig PX (rahhh). In the color, we guess that Jura still loves caramel ... Very sweet nose, very sweet and vanilla.
    • Taste
The divine power of caramel. The whole is quite melted. But is there anything else? Very easy, greedy, a lot of honey. A little citrus, but it's very discreet. Unpleasant presence of hay.
    • Finish
Honey, vanilla, caramel, wood. But little more.

  4. Dramnation scored this whisky 87 points Member Junior

    • Nose
A full aroma of pleasant sweet-sour honey, flowers (violets), ginger and light coastal tones. A remarkable nose!
    • Taste
Velvet soft but full body with sweet honey, spicy but not too prickly pepper.
    • Finish
Long and stimulating, a tad spicy in the front of the mouth.
