Bacony, not as smoky as I would expect from such a young whisky from Islay.

  3. Samtje scored this whisky 74 points Expert Senior

Weak vanilla, nearly no citrusy side, light porridge, balance?, weak evolution, boiled milk, too much youngish smoke/ash, just go for the 10yo as a decent example of what Ardbeg is.

A young whisky, where the taste of raw booze dominates. Smokey as you would expect from an Ardbeg. Almost comparable to rye whisky in some sense. A hard and tough whisky.

Definitely worth a try, but the 10yo Ardbeg is far superior compared to this one.

The Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the latest addition to the range.
Good value 5 year old Islay. Untamed smoke, tar, pepper and dark chocolate.

Compared to the first release, I think this bottling is terrible. I can't recommend it.

Ardbeg 5yo Wee Beastie 47.4%. There are no fewer than 13 entries for the 2020 release on the Whiskybase database. Which entry to choose? This one, apparently...the one that comes up first! Fairly pale and natural looking. Aroma coal gas, hammy, faint burnt apple and vanilla. Quite young and not very Ardbeg but decent. Taste is spicy and hammy, fairly restrained up front and then the salty Beastie comes out to play towards the middle and punches you in the guts. Spicy and really not that smoky at all. More of a salty punch to this really. It's okay but far inferior to Ardbeg 10 or An Oa and yet similarly priced to them. (3.4/81)

  9. Sandman scored this whisky 76 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Tar, smoking meat on BBQ, burning charcoal, lemon and horse stable
    • Taste
Peat, lube oil, lime juice, candied fruit, burnt wood, salty, hint of chocolate and nuts
    • Finish
Medium length, smoke of burning wood, spicy, nutty, citrus, baked apple, sea salt, dark chocolate, ginger and grapefruit
