Bud Spencer! To be honest, I only bought this young single malt because of the bottle or the label! In terms of taste, the St. Kilian really doesn't pull me off my stool, although after the second glass it seems a bit more pleasant and palatable. Nice gag, great look, looks really good on my whisky barrel ...

    • Nose
Light and thin caramel shines in the Premium Snifter, oily streaks stick to the glass wall. Sweetish fruity notes appear tenderly in the nose, sugar and vanilla are added. Mirabelle plums and apricots, hints of apples and mandarins, slightly floral with meadow herbs and a hint of caramel and honey. Crumbs of milk chocolate and again sugared yellow fruits, the nose looks extremely fragile and filigree.
    • Taste
Yellow fruits with dried wood tones flow over the tongue, slightly tart and spicy, followed by caramel and cane sugar, hints of hazelnut and raisins end voluminously on the palate. Cozy warmth lines the entire mouth area, mint and slightly grassy or floral notes emerge. Minimally burnt sugar plays with yellow, dark fruit, herbs and spice paste spread over the tongue, spicy and dry wood tones emerge from hazelnuts, which herald the aftertaste.
    • Finish
Spicy, with dried wood and fruit tones, the malt sticks tartly on the palate. Sugar and vanilla paste, wooden with sweet and fruity notes ... The aftertaste also seems rather reserved and shy.

    official information from the distillery:

Made from 100% pure barley malt, the Bud Spencer whisky matured in Amarone barrels and ex-Bourbon barrels for over 3 years. It has been double distilled in original Scottish pot still stills.

    BUD SPENCER - THE LEGEND
In his films, our hero Bud Spencer fights around the world for law and justice. Fearless and unconventional, he paralyzes all scoundrels and criminals. Then he likes to have a whisky or two. We think he deserves it.

At St. Kilian Distillers we create absolute premium whiskys for a global audience. For our "Bud Spencer - The Legend" we have combined noble Bourbon barrels from the USA with Italian Amarone red wine barrel notes. Of course in the proven St. Kilian "Made in Germany" top quality.

Cheers - we toast with you

Very spiritsy. Totally not well integrated ABV, because the flavour profile is fairly light.
    • Nose
      75 75
Floral notes of honey, spiritsy and a whiff of wood.
    • Taste
      78 78
Tropical fruits such as mango and coconut. Marzipan with some honey.
    • Finish

More of the same. Peach, apple, malt, tea and vanilla.

Yes is OK. A good, young whisky without annoying missing notes that you can pour every now and then - no matter what time of year. It reminds me a lot of the Loch Lomond Original in the blue tin can. Still, hats off to the marketing idea; the bottle (s) look good on the whisky shelf - 04/09/2021
    • Nose
      77 77
First of all, I smell a spicy grain note, along with fresh citrus and zest aromas, apple, apricot, powdered sugar, fondant, chocolate, nougat, citrus-fruity and grassy, but the grain note remains largely dominant and becomes sticky over time
    • Taste
      76 76
The cardboard continues here, tart, malty-sweet, block chocolate, fresh ginger, very oily, voluminous woody bitterness
    • Finish
      74 74
Very woody and oily, peppery, grassy, overripe banana

not necessarily legendary, but not bad either. An easy drinking malt. I like it.
    • Nose
Apple, pears, apricots, light fruity, slightly caramel, slightly malty, rather soft and reserved, some herbs come later, then chocolate,
    • Taste
fruity, sweet, malty, some caramel, nuts, some oak, chocolate, later becoming slightly dry
    • Finish
Sweet, malty, nutty finish, the fruits are now more subtle and the oak notes stronger, it also appears sweeter.

    an easy-drinking-dram
    Ok for me
doesn't have as much boom as legend
    • Nose
sweet chewing gum from childhood (these plates), slightly earthy, young malt, bananas, slightly caramel, slightly red berries (strange) becomes stronger, sweetness, young / unripe apple, slightly metallic, a strange note
    • Taste
soft, round, oily on the palate
Banana light brown becomes stronger, tingles a bit, slightly aromatic herbs, becomes more spicy, oak, malt no longer young, vanilla appears, a bitter note like lemon
    • Finish
      medium long
Vanilla, malt, warm, cake batter, spicy,
      astringent on the palate

  8. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Nice young whisky with a great sweetness from the wine barrel. Simply knitted, but delicious and above all like a good young whisky, no fruit brandy. The label actually gets an extra note, if only "marketing nonsense". But regardless of the look, the whisky is perfect.

smells like eagle owl / glue!
    • Taste
      82 82
      spicy, tart
    • Finish
      83 83
now the Amarone barrel comes into its own - a bit sour, tart; Buttermilk

  10. Wiggerl scored this whisky 83 points Member Senior

I would describe it as a simple summer whisky that aligns with a light white wine. The nose is the most interesting, in the mouth - starting from the nose - you get disappointed and in the finish it gets lost. All in all, not a whisky to buy.
    • Nose
First nose: grassy floral, malty sweetness, some alcohol, then light summer white wine with some acidity and nice fruit, gooseberries, pear peel, not a complex nose, but the different aromas can be easily assigned
    • Taste
Slightly peppery sharpness with aromas of white wine (like in the nose) and malt, slight bitterness occupies the mouth, no differentiable fruits, no floral notes
    • Finish
Peppery bitterness merges into the medium-length finish and slowly fades. Finally, a touch of strong cocoa.
