A middle of the road 10y medium peated non Islay whisky bottled as integrity malt (46% ABV, no chill filtration, natural color). Well done, but this will not be for everybody. Why? Neither the Edradour's spirit nor their smoke are of a clean nature. The whisky is little bit "edgy", if you know what I mean. Light fruits, vanilla, toffee, honey, barley, spices, slight bitterness (on the finish) and a dirty smoke. The underlying spirit is also not the cleanest one. I would most certainly not recommend this one to a beginner!

A great Highland single malt for friends of peaty whiskys.
    • Nose
Sweet herbal peat smoke with toffee and vanilla. Fruit and oak notes complete the picture.
    • Taste
Oily, powerful and sweet. The peat smoke, fruits, caramel and cinnamon.
    • Finish
Medium length finish, sweet and very pleasant.

In any case, the nose is the highlight of this bottling, although the promised smoke doesn't really come to fruition here. Then it goes down.
The palate - here comes the smoke after all - is not very harmonious, dry, sticky and slightly bitter.

"Heavily Peated" ?? I only perceive a whiff of a very delicate smoke, which is heavily overlaid by juicy, ripe fruit aromas and, above all, contributes to a slight spiciness that is reminiscent of pipe tobacco. In addition, very ripe peaches, dried apricots, heather honey, vanilla, orange lemonade, slightly tart apple and a delicate oak spice.
    • Taste
      80 80
Slightly dry and significantly less sweet than the nose. Here the smoke comes out a bit more clearly, but has a very medicinal note and reminds me of gauze bandages that were thrown into the fire together with a piece of cardboard. In addition, there is a slight citrus note towards orange, which does not provide a fresh character, and a little wallpaper paste.
    • Finish
      80 80
Short to medium-length finish. Cold ashes with slightly dried out orange peel and old pipe tobacco.

I was very astonished after I had the first release not as pleasant as this one. But ok that´s 6 years ago and my tongue might have changed. This is a lovely dram!
    • Nose

quite some smoke in a bed of garden herbs like parlsley and dill. The peat reminds me of some Indian whiskies I have tried (Paul John). Bandages. Linseed oil and something fishy. Orange juice ( the cheap one). Of course we cannot expect any complexity here but it´s a very decent nose.

Very good indeed, add some malt, a good amount of that, quite somesome salt. Sweet apples, a bit of mint. Perfect balance of smoke, sweet fruitiness, freshness and malt.
    • Finish
      88 88
long on malt and salt, clean

    • Nose
      86 86
Intense overripe green fruits, powdered sugar, very creamy sweetness, slightly toasted wood note, a little vanilla, a slightly tart roasted note occasionally shines through, vanilla cream, light spicy note, sweet apple, subtle sweet pastry notes
    • Taste
      85 85
Very light, subtle and soft smoke, pleasant sweetness, fresh sweet green fruits, apple, sweet spicy notes, a little caramel, sweetish wet wood
    • Finish
      85 85
Very light and pleasant, soft, nice sweetness, a little vanilla, very slightly dry-tart wood notes, toasted notes, caramel, great soft and charred smoky notes.
