Compared to the sister barrel # 300875B (WB-ID: 169149) this one looks a bit more massive and angular both in the nose and in the taste.
The flavors are otherwise almost identical.
First, a large portion of alcohol in the nose. After this has evaporated, there is a lot of sweet grain, malt and caramel. Definitely a grain, but of the good kind. The red fruits and some leather from the red wine barrel then slide over it.
The tingling of the alcohol doesn't go away with this one, in contrast to the sister barrel, even if it stands longer.
Creamy consistency. The alcohol is better integrated in the taste than in the nose. Here, too, the grain aromas show up first before the red wine barrels develop their full strength. Malt. Caramel, sweet grape juice. Tannins.
Overall a touch spicier than the sister barrel.
Warming. Pleasantly dry and tannic. But overall rather short.
