http://www.weinkenner.de/2014/islay-x-mas-deluxe-vier-rare-whisky-legenden-zum-fest-35024/ Color: Old Sauternes - Old Gold
Nose: Creamy heavy with a lot of marzipan, vanilla, chocolate and peat. Aromas of fruity berries (currants and blueberries) mix with them and enliven the nose. But also smoky notes of pepper, leather and spicy tobacco notes rise in the glass.
Taste: Powerful and fruity-sweet! Driven by spicy cayenne pepper and red chilli, the flavors of the Laddie slowly take on the creamy direction again. Block chocolate with coarse sea salt, nut nougat and hints of fine chocolates come to light. Towards the finish, the peaty-alcoholic notes whip up again, and the cocoa content is intensified.
Finish: Beautifully long with marmalade notes, lots of honey, almonds, hazelnuts, nut liqueur, toffee and bourbon vanilla. Very salty underfoot and dry towards the end with delicate-sour wood and intense nut.
    92 points (nose: 93 / taste: 92 / finish: 91)

Chocolate marzipan toffee vanilla cooked bananas a bit of peat, not overly sherried but the wood must have been brilliant to do such a good job in just ten years, excellent!

Tonight its a mid 1960's Bruichladdich face off, lowest abv first    https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/8797/bruichladdich-1968-mi

    https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/30927/bruichladdich-centenary this is a 15 year bottled in 1981  https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/14053/bruichladdich-1966  https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/16892/bruichladdich-1965    Result

    1 -  Penny Black

    2 - Reserva Veroneli

3 - 1965 Samaroli but splitting hairs with the Reserva Veroneli

    4 - Centenary

The 1968 Penny Black MI wins because it had a little more of everything and at only 46% had the most to offer on the palate.  There is really nothing between the  Reserva Veronelli 1966 and the 10 year Samaroli 1965 only that the Veronelli you could tell the extra years had added a little extra to the profile but the Samaroli 10 year is a belter for one so young.

Although the centenary was last again hardly anything in it and all 4 of these Laddie are great bottlings and this was a really enjoyable H2H

This tastes much older than 10 years old, quality casks were obviously used on this one.
