The Octave barrel has done a good job: I can't smell anything of the alcohol - only when I go deep into it and breathe in strongly. Pear, light citrus note. From the peaty pre-ventilation of the barrel (Ruadh Maor from Glenturret) I don't notice anything anymore. Creamy caramel, malt, sweetness. Far away: few red fruits. But the longer I smell, there might be some smoke.
Rinsed the empty glass with a few drops of water: shoe polish.
Here, too, at the start: creamy, sweet. Light fruits - pear. Then come some spices. A few drops of water reduce the sharpness a little.
Medium length. Spicy, some smoke remains.
