Wonderful clash of tropical fruits, creamy notes and spices from the cask. Clynelish at its best.
    • Nose
      94 94
Round, creamy and pronounced aroma, the essence of a good bourbon cask. Vanilla pudding, panna cotta and green fresh fruits: apples, unripe bananas and pineapple. Thick honey, wax and dried ginger. Traces of rancio: old dusty trunk. Floral notes in the background. Love it!
    • Taste

Smooth and mouthfeeling. Apples in caramel, honey, lime juice, cider and tropical fruits: pineapple and unripe mango. Some sunflower seeds, sandal tree and ginger. Full bodied character.
    • Finish
      91 91
long & smooth, with spices, wax, some fresh grass, apple mint and tobacco at the end.

    Nose
Wonderful typical Clynelis aroma flows from the glass. Fresh apples, beeswax and light fruit and citric acid. There's no doubt about that. Strong, but with very well integrated alcohol. A slightly spicy and slightly salty side shows up - that's also typical. Vanilla, honeycomb, sweet and sour fruits. I hardly know what else to write here in capital letters, so you can go and read Clynelish's explanation in the encyclopedia. A hint of tropical fruit, ripe kiwi? Some fresh hay, straw and heather can be found behind the wax curtain. A perfect malt to sniff, I can and will do that here for a long time!

    taste
It continues exactly the same, the beeswax now clearly dominates, but the tropical fruits are also strong and build up a sweet wall of aromas. Powerful, mouth-filling, creamy-sticky and almost a bit thick mouthfeel. banana and kiwi? A smoothie with vanilla sugar and fresh honey? Extremely present and complex, but with excellently integrated alcohol here too - such an explosion of aromas in the mouth is not found every day - especially paired with soft, creamy alcohol. Great!
Along with the aromas, all impressions of the nose emerge again, mixed up and in a slightly different constellation with every sip - complexity is the keyword.

    departure
Long, slightly warming on the palate and with a lot of vanilla and beeswax. These two aromas now dominate. You hardly notice anything from oak or a lot of influence from the barrel, the long years in the barrel have only had a positive effect here. The wax sticks to the tongue for a very long time, which is also a feature of a great Clynelish. Slightly tart aromas are found at the very end, maybe a little bit of oak.

    Conclusion
A perfect bourbon barrel aged Clynelish. Nothing to complain about here, and not much more to say either. Absolutely fantastic bottling! The dram is so good and so typical that the notes are getting rather short, there is just not much more to write here because everything is just as it should be....
    Outstanding! N-94, T-93, F-92 for top 93 points

Nose - wax, sweet, bright fruit, honey, fresh, grassy, papaya pierces.
Taste - Citrus, waxy, pleasant spices, delicately add character, mineral, vanilla,
Finish - on-going, as it should, wax, white fruit, honey and vanilla, fades out with a slight bitterness of oak.

This is a great Clynelish, but not exceptional in my opinion. It’s a little spicy and while the waxiness is there, it is not as coating as others I’ve had. Lots to like though.

Edit: actually this opened up to a fantastic Clynelish. Everything you would want from the stats really. The spiciness went away and just became creamy and waxy. Lovely. 91p.

My best Clynelish so far. Exceptionally complex yet clearly presents the distillery character. Needs plenty of time and a bit of water because at first, it might be uptight or metallic, even.
Now, the last drops from the bottle reveal the hyperconcentrated vanilla and beeswax notes in about 15-20 minutes. Here the weak-point is the finish, for me, it seems a bit overoaked and dry. Which is in accordance with the overall experience, being of a more austere nature. No tropical fruits here, but rather dried flowers and pollen. This is one to remember.

    • Nose
Very fresh, green, but uniquely green. Green peas, slightly aldehydic, fresh green vegetals. With time of course it gets a lot sweeter and a little more resinous and waxy as it supposed to be.
    • Taste
Green vegetal sweetness, waxy and creamy, mainly towards to the finish.
    • Finish
On the finish, a lots of vanilla, custard. Mouthcoating and luscious.

Classic wax, great symbiosis of sweet fruits & beautiful spicy herbs. Vanilla, honey, subtle citrus fruits. Also fruity and spicy in the mouth. Very harmonious, alcohol very well integrated. Long, intense and pleasant finish.

Great bourbon at a very high level. Connects seamlessly to siblings # 11218 and # 11215. Should someone tell me again, these days there is no longer any good whisky ???? The price of 330 € is of course not a bargain, but worth considering for this quality. Unfortunately, the bottling was sold out within a few hours, so the question no longer arises.

The sister keg from the UK only cost £ 220, which I think is fair if the quality is similar. The Cask for Europe, which was only available in DE from DeinWhisky.de, was 330 €! I would never have paid this price if I hadn't raped the F5 key on the UK shop pages for days in the hope of getting the UK bottling ????.

Unfortunately no chance, as each retailer in the UK only received 2 bottles and they often did not even make it into the online shop.
Fortunately, I had a little more success at Europa Cask, but I had to dig deeper into my pockets.

Great! The typical Clynelish waxiness jumps straight into the face, paired with vanilla, honeycomb, pineapple, banana and other bright and sweet tropical fruits.
      Alcohol perfectly integrated!

Oily and thick. Is there immediately and the mentioned aromas are also present in the button. A really intense and impressive taste experience.

      Long, sparkling and neat. HOT!
There's nothing more to say ...
