N: Clean. Blend of ultra clean peat, citrus, spray and sea water. Wet dog and licorice after a few minutes.
B: Clean. Fat and creamy attack. Then a fat peat comes. Big breaking, very powerful without the alcohol being disturbing.
F: Ultra long, more on smoke and wet ashes.
C: 61% and yet ultra balanced. The nose is surely more complex while the mouth is of a shattering power but fishing a little by a lack of complexity.

This one really needs some time; First wild and tough, later on it is getting more quiet, nicer and more tastefull.

Alcohol is pretty venomous on a regular base, a lot of peat and smoke, ash, salty. But also some pure chocolate, and even some lemon now, which makes it all quiet interesting...
    • Taste
      88 88
Peppers, warming, smoke, and lot's of tobacco now. Some sal ammoniak, 'Lacrisal'. Chocolate again, caramel. En fruity too, peach. Salty.
    • Finish
      88 88
Still some pepper, warming, smoke and peat, wood, cigar tobacco again. Fruity, citrus now. Pretty long finish.

I opened this bottle about 4 years ago.  You'd think that it influenced the flavours, but now.  This is remarkably alive.  However, I used to like this one a lot but my preference has changed quite a bit.  This one is all about smoke, peat and some citrus.  It's not a very complex whisky at all.  It's just pretty straight forward.  With each sip you take you get smacked in the face by the peat and smoke.

  8. Ivynor scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

A good globally good whisky that is young and where alcohol is not perfectly integrated. (note that this was a sample probably from a bottle end)
    • Nose
The nose is very thin, too much perhaps, because it's difficult to detect something specific. a little peat, candied lemon, ash notes. The whole is reminiscent of a caol ila well done and announced slightly creamy
    • Taste
A little off the nose. the first impression is pleasant but short (notes of hazelnuts, chocolate, milk). The texture is creamy, flies quickly to the mouth to make way for herbs and lemon.
    • Finish
Short, rather alcoholic, on herbs and some peat. The first seconds of the final, sweeter (cough syrup) are appreciable, but it lasts too little ...

  9. KayMeertens scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Blind tasting of a small sample from Erik.
    • Nose
Vegetal peat, salt, lime, Bastogne cookies, dark chocolate, vanilla and peach.
    • Taste
Sweet lime, earthy peat, dark chocolate, peach, caramel, brown sugar and sea salt.
    • Finish
Peat, lime, dark chocolate and caramel.

  10. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

N: oily, full whisky, briny, lemon, white bread, new spirit, nose like Ardbeg/Kilchoman
    T: warming, oily and tobacco
    F: peaty, earth and wood
this whisky needs a lot of time, very interesting dram
