Whisky Reviews for Dufftown 1976 DD

- Not a whisky so easy, relatively austere. It's still nice
Very vegetal, quite young with tobacco and new wood. Some very green fruits: plums and pears not ripe. Hay, rifle and lemon arrive gradually in the dance. Not the profile that I like the most but it is well done here.
In the continuity of the nose. Green, clean. Oak, sawdust and tobacco are very present, wet gravel, green fruit and a side of life too. Made a lot younger than those 34 years old.
Long, hot and slightly pungent. Spice and lots of tobacco.
- This Whisky was sold for 213 € at Whiskyauction in Nov. 2015
- Tasted blind.
Nose: a little fruity, almond paste. Light wood, green hazelnut. OBE? Special, difficult to define. Peat? A little metallic. It becomes beautifully fruity, floral, herbal, aeration, more clean. Wax, delicate smoke. Coriander? Fennel ?
Mouth: oh well, there is some peat. Discreet but there. Also very beautiful candied fruits. Delicate woody. Nice thickness, almost sweet. We do not have these few "dirty" aromas of the nose that made me think of the BOB. Spices, dead leaves. The alcohol is good, warm but not too much.
Final: not very tasty unfortunately, a little fruit anyway. Slight bitterness (Schweppes).
Very nice whisky, it's a bit "old school" even if I do not know why ... The nose is very complex, evolutive even elusive. The mouth is more direct, which does not mean less good. Too bad the final is behind.
I like a lot.
