I see it as a decent but not terrific dram.
Smoked, burt wood as the nose approaces the dram. Dark chocolate, honey, lard, raisin, orange peel along with some cumin and other spices, all might possibly be attributed to the full maturation period in the "Aussie sherry" cask. I can also detect some white lily when I exhale, the Fanta after decanting, as well as the blackcurrent in the empited glass. Nevertheless, the alcohol is fierce and offensive on the nose.
It's oily, but lacking a strong, full body.
The arrival is sweet and tangy. Estery, with ripen banana, plum and pineapple (corresponding to the "almost-rot fruit" in another review). A hint of apple peel, and evident ginger spices. Chewing simply intensified the bitterness. Lacking complexity.
Long, but not strong. Medicinal bitterness, menthol, freshly sliced papers, and a hint of senka.
