Whisky Reviews for Glenallachie 2009

- Very straightforward, not overly complex, but very round malt. Doesn't really seem special or exciting to me, but rather a classic PX sherry whisky.
But it tastes pretty good to me.
Soft and slightly alcoholic at the same time, it starts in the nose. That always alternates a little. The alcohol has a cooling effect after a while in the glass. But I don't recognize a real mint or menthol tone.
Then it gets really fruity and really sweet. Plum jam, dates, cherries, red berries. It appears something like rum aroma and red wine. There are also a few spices like cinnamon and cloves.
Great dark fruity nose.
Peppery, tingling, spicy, but not overly hot. Oak spice is very present at the beginning, but gradually recedes a little over time. The fruitiness and sweetness continue here. Not quite as intense as in the nose. Dark chocolate and a little vanilla tobacco are mixed in for this.
With a little water it becomes softer and creamier, the fruit notes come out a little more clearly. I also have an overripe banana and some caramel with cotton candy.
I like it.
Medium-long finish, light woody, spicy notes. Getting a bit bitter and dry, coffee, very chocolatey,
Orange zest, chocolate
Alcohol noticeable, chocolate
Medium length, chocolate
