I didn't expect as much as he delivered. I got caught and excited about this bottling.

I have to take the normal bottlings to Gemühte, it remains interesting.

It's always impressive what a good barrel can do, and this must definitely have been a good sherry butt. The barrel has left its mark on the malt, but the young age cannot be completely hidden. All in all a very nice malt on the nose, but unfortunately too young for me.

Alcohol noticeable in the nose but astonishingly well integrated in 62%; sweet and dark fruity; Berry; dark cherries; Orange notes; Raisins; Caramel; nice spicy notes; Cinnamon; some vanilla; in addition a harmoniously integrated noticeably woody spice
      - beautiful, intense sherry profile, looks older than 5 years
    • Taste
      87 87
sweet start; slightly creamy; Raisins; Orange; Cherry; Spices; delicate tart oak seasoning; wow the barrel has already worked properly here
    • Finish
      85 85
slightly bitter woody spice; delicate fruit notes; Spices; here the youth can get through a bit

The 0.5l bottle for just under 80 euros is ambitious for a 5 year old whisky. But worth the price. I wouldn't spend more than that.

Tolerates water, I diluted it to 53%.

Full and round. Cherry, cotton candy, orange zest, dark berries, dark raisins. caramel
    • Taste

Creamy. Sweet. Caramel and ripe orange, cherry, red currant.
    • Finish

Becomes slightly bitter. Orange jam, espresso and a delicate note of oak remain. Medium length.

good whisky for its young age...

...but it can't hide its youth.

needs a good amount of water, otherwise its way too alcoholic and sharp.

    swims very good though

    overpriced nontheless

    without water: -3 to -5

It is really difficult for me to stay fair here, because I now compare it a bit wacky with "food and glutamate". There are people who are looking for exactly that and who like to eat. But that has always been an issue for me. And although I don't know the process of how to transport these intense / elegant sherry aromas into a bottle in such a short time, I now claim, very cheeky, that this whisky has the simple format "main thing sherry". The alcohol is so intense above all and it makes it clear how the sherry gets through here. There are only two pairs of boots on the palate. Alcohol & Sherry. So I would even speak of one-dimensional. Or as I often say, you drive on the sherry one-way street. However, I honestly have to admit that, with a Bentley. But for me personally this is exactly the "modern kind" of whisky that I don't prefer. Like the glutamate in food. Because I would also like to address the PLV and everyone should think about it now! A package "bigger" than many others. Inside, however, there is only a 50cl bottle "padded" and the issue price is already doubled 2 days later. Question to the nation: Do we want to support this format? André's generous sample is enough for me and a warm greeting to Schleusingen in the archive :))

PS. My honest respect goes out to the manufacturers, because this whisky is looking for its equal and will find many lovers. A unicorn among the 5 year olds.
I even say: "Welcome to the new world of whisky!"

    • Nose
a peppery start, orange and red fruits in jam,
intense ester notes between fruity and soapy,
a wonderful sherry seasoning topped with fresh tobacco.
I am pleasantly surprised what an intense nose in such a young mind.
    • Taste
      sweet - spicy
    • Finish
a nice, sweet sherry flavor remains in the finish,
      with tobacco influences

All in all a nice winter paint. It goes well with the weather today and I'm glad I had 10cl in the sample.
    • Nose

Nice winter spice notes, dark cherries, raisins, furniture polish, oak, caramel
    • Taste
      89 89
Nice sweetness, cherries, slightly chocolaty, oak,
    • Finish
      89 89
Long finish, the oak stays, plus the winter spices and the cherry
