Wonderful distillery character accompanied by flint smoke, meatiness, honey, brine, floral and some light citrus and fruit notes. A ‘dirty’ HP. Quite enjoyable.

Serge Valentin WhiskyFun Review 17 May 2021:

Highland Park 14 yo 2006/2020 (60.1%, Gordon & MacPhail, Connoisseurs Choice, refill sherry puncheon, cask #4269, 588 bottles)

G&M have been instrumental to HP. Not only to HP. Colour: light gold. Nose: ho-ho-ho, chalk, candlewax, flints, peanut oil, Parma ham, marrow… With water: iodine, wet plaster, oysters, engine oil. You cannot beat that. Mouth (neat): sublime mineral, grassy, ultra-tight arrival, then chalk and lime. Who needs literature? (why do you keep calling your miserable gibberish 'literature', S.?) With water: instantly floors you. Crystalline smoky and mineral development, with just a few bits of lemon for decoration. Some oils too. Finish: long, tarrier. The greatly dirtier side of HP coming out. Comments: stunner alert, this is a true aristocratic thug of whisky. That was short indeed - et nunc est bibendum!
    SGP:453 - 90 points.

That one was really great, assuredly.

The nose is slow to open, but after a while it's a beautiful festival. Mountain honey, very thick, juicy citrus fruits, fresh peat, vegetal, intense iodine. A beautiful vanilla milk tops it all off. The peat is quite substantial, pungent, like holly, nettles, heather. But we end up returning to a sea breeze sprinkled with lemon. On the palate, it's very soft, suave, then the spices rise, cumin, cloves, coriander, pepper. Sheep's cheese, tasted in the mountains, raisins, ripe banana, passion fruit. Very long finish, powerful as it should be, still cheesy, but more on the earth, the bread crust. A little more honey, dried fig.

This dram was shared during a private club tasting. This dram was brilliant and most of us liked the peated taste combined with its original HP taste with honey and sea.

    Blind sample.
Extremely well balanced flavour profile which reminded me immediately of Highland Park. It's a stiff and closed dram without adding any water, so that's recommendable.
    • Nose
      90 90
Honey, heathery, wood, fudge, some smoke, abricot (typical HP), a touch of raisins and almonds.
    • Taste
      93 93
Caramel fudge, abricot, honey, butter, biscuits, smoke, cacao and dried figs.
    • Finish
      90 90
Very long with cacao, peat and a whiff of fruit.
