Very fresh, fruity and sweet dram, powerful but not too hefty, alcohol pretty well integrated. Give it some time, and it will even power up a bit.
This one is definately growing in time, things really open up. Very pleasant whisky.

Very fruity from scratch, citrus, lemon, orange, but also like apple compote, even a hint of glue. Then the floral notes come in, followed by a very nice sweetness, fresh honey, notes of vanilla.
Hardly any alcohol noticeable in the nose, which is quite surprising for such a high Abv. Actually it's maybe a little modest nose.
Only after some time, a little alcohol comes in, with some grassy notes.

Now the high Abv comes in, powerful, pepper, pickering mouthfeel. Accompanied by a nice mix of sweet- and fruitiness, orange, honey, some peach. Also some caramel sweetness, milkchocolate.
After some time it gets more and more powerful.
    • Finish
      86 86
Still pretty powerful, sweet and fruity with a little bitter touch underneath, grapefruits, oranges, citrus, honey again. Some wood, popsickle sticks. Middle long finish at first, but after some time things get more powerful, peach and honey remain for quite some time.
Later on even some tobacco remains now.

Very nice dram, little too sharp for me with the pepper in taste and finish. A drop of water made it softer. I enjoyed this dram, 86 points by me.

I've been following PerfectDram for a while. I even dare occasionally unasked to interfere with the way they formulate their texts; as a language purist (or taalnazi, if you will) there was sometimes something to stumble over. This is the first time I have released my language on a PD bottling. So I have something to prove here.
I have had a number of "sessions" with this bottling. Session is a nice word for having a drink on your egg and at the same time trying to find something to complain about. In addition, the exercise of describing what you taste is an exercise in humility (give it a try) and adds extra fun - provided it is a good whisky. This Glentauchers is a good whisky. He allows little murmuring.
The scent of vanilla, apricots, raisins and a hint of strawberry bodes well. This Speyside has a hefty punch - 56% - is nevertheless soft on the nose and tongue. It is a fruit basket optima forma; the promised strawberries mix with soft plums and peaches; later a small tropical hint with banana and coconut follows. A very pleasant pepper and some resin and sawn pine wood together provide a slightly savory and quite long aftertaste, in which I actually detect some smoke in the distance. Seriously good whisky, this one; the level of quality far exceeds the price in my opinion. And no, I am not saying that to raise the daily value, I only bought this bottle. But a second bottle, I wouldn't let it stand.
