Finally a straightforward malt from a great sherry barrel. Not overlaid and certainly not dominated by intrusive fruit aromas, rather filigree with an elegant character. No matter which distillery is behind this Secret Speyside, this malt convinces with its straightforward nature and wonderful aroma composition! Tastes and thrilled!

    • Nose
The Secret Speyside in the Premium Snifter shimmers slightly rust-colored, long and oily "legs" stick to the glass wall and find their way back into the glass. Nutty with a hint of dried fruit, hints of caramel and old toffee, subtly resinous with dark forest honey, with crumbs of dark chocolate and a pinch of dried herbs. Elegant with an old character, the sherry aromas on the nose are extremely clear and distinct. Currants with a handful of morello cherries, dates and raisins, a pinch of sugar dissolves from the dark chocolate note, herbs and spices are added again. Right now I'm being distracted by the incredibly thick and syrupy "legs" on the glass wall, then I treat myself to a few deep puffs on this wonderful nose ...
    • Taste
The Speysider sloshes gently through the mouth, dried grapes and berries beat against the cheeks, spicy wood tones follow with dark honey and a taste of "dark deep forest". Gradually, a pinch of pepper envelops the tongue and massively stimulates the flow of saliva. Chocolate sticks to the palate, dark forest honey drips from the tongue, ripe red berries roll through the mouth and end up as dried raisins on the tip of the tongue. The elegant style of the nose is also reflected in the taste and gives the taste a special character.
    • Finish
Dark fruits with honey and caramel stick to the palate, slightly tart and sour, fresh herbs and spices dissolve from spicy wood tones, hazelnuts come up and end again slightly resinous with pine needles on the tip of the tongue. Now and then there is a subtle spiciness on the tongue, hints of burnt sugar merge with dried fruits and a fine mint note.

What a dram of delicious "peach tea"

Rich apple mash with orange juice added. Sweet roasted nuts, more apple peel. Some lemon red tea with honey. Tobacco near the rim bottom of the whisky glass. Soft and rounded citrus zest, maple syrup, wax on the oranges. Leave it for a while, toffee and a bit of creamy chocolate with hazelnut.
    • Taste

Apples, orange peel, yellow peaches and some other creamy stone fruits, oily after a few seconds, maple syrup, sweetness then slightly dropped. Light peach tea with a bit of honey. Plain nuts and some peach. Pear peel .

Nice peaches and apple peel for a while. Some assorted tropical fruits. Long-lasting fruit notes. A thin layer of vanilla. Light wood and nuts, with peach lingering. Magnificent.

Elegant is very good! Round, harmonious and simply extremely pleasant to drink. Still, there is a lot to discover.

I agree 100% to the notes from didi. Insanely elegant, smooth, harmonious with great sherry flavors and luckily without being put on. With creamy honey and heather. This secret could actually be a Macallan! Nice!

According to Doris the original cask sample was labeled "Maca...".
