Whisky Reviews for Williamson 2011 DR

He comes across as relatively shy: iodine, smoke, light citrus note. Not much of the alcohol is noticeable.
Within fractions of a second I realize ... this is 100% Laphroaig in terms of taste. The 59.9% alcohol is perfectly integrated and not at all spicy. I save the water because it works great without it. Classic notes of iodine, smoke, light citrus notes, sweetness. Then there is a "twist": At first I think of a slightly metallic note ... but not the typical young age, as we usually know it, but rather meaty, leathery. The sherry butt in which the Williamson was lying is almost impossible to make out for me.
Medium length; there is a little ash and then the sweetness comes through again.
- Laphroaig. Laphroaig. Laphroaig.
You wouldn't taste much of sherry here, but Laphroaig.
And it's perfect!
If you're kinda guy who loves Laphroaig 10 CS,
You would love this dram.
Compare to batch #10, little less smoky, bit more briny, and bit more youthful. (Youthfulness similar to batch 12)
Bit excessively salty though that's probably just due to my palate today.
Sweet as Laphroaig always is; Sweetness that arises from depth of your heart.
And as always, I love it.
Retasted. Not as salty as before. I did have problem with my palate.
Tamer than typical laphroaig 10 cs.
You can fell the refill sherry cask working, but not much on the nose but in texture.
Overall, still very good. Fixed to 89
