Easy to drink and very varied! Sweet sugar, full-bodied fruits, smoky with ash, cocoa powder with chocolate, nutty and slightly greasy ... Simple drinking pleasure for sociable hours with friends.

    • Nose
Light amber with a reddish / orange shimmer shines out of my Premium Snifter, thick and oily "legs" have formed on the glass wall. Cold smoke with fly ash dominates the first impression, sweet and fruity candied strawberries and raspberries come into their own, the alcohol is wonderfully integrated. Slightly burnt wood with a minimal note of bacon, dark caramel with a few crumbs of milk chocolate and a hint of old apricots. The sweet and fruity Caol Ila stimulates the flow of saliva with its irresistible note of smoke and fly ash.
    • Taste
Smoky and ashy, the dusty cocoa powder with a fine note of cinnamon is literally palpable, again strawberries and raspberries come into their own. From the sweet and fruity sugar mass, a peppery spiciness emerges which at the same time settles on the palate and tingles on the tongue at the same time. Pleasantly ashy and smoky, discreetly burnt wood tones, hints of oily pork belly and a minimal hint of mushy banana. With hazelnuts and spicy wood tones, the taste fades into the aftertaste.
    • Finish
Cozy warmth sticks to the palate, cocoa powder dusts on the tongue, hazelnuts swim in the excited saliva, fly ash and a small cloud of smoke pass through the mouth. The aftertaste slowly fades away sweet and nutty, leaving smoky wooden elements and sweet fruit on the tongue.

    Color gold
    - very smoky, looks quite young, a bit one-dimensional
    in taste
    - but not better in taste than the distillers. Ed.
    - for an issue price of € 80, maybe still ok, because of the small number of copies
    and single cask
    - unfortunately, a possible rum aroma is completely eliminated by the
    Smoke choked ....
    • Nose
slightly sweet and fruity, clear smoky notes, looks a bit younger than 11 years
    • Taste
      without water: very strong, smoky, strong start, the smoky notes dominate, something sweet in the background (could be the rum influence, but you hardly notice it);

mW: becomes fruity, somewhat exotic, pineapple, citrus fruits, clear, strong smoke, cold smoke
    • Finish
      longer, smokier departure;
      longer very smoky reverberation

    • Nose
      90 90
Heavy sweetness of dark fruits like strawberries and raspberries. Leather, liquorice, salt and ash. A little smoked bacon.

Over time it becomes fresher and the sweetness fades towards apricot.
    • Taste
      90 90
Peat, ash and bacon, but also the Caol Ila sweetness again. Caramel and toffee, but fresh notes from the rum barrel are recognizable. Strong pepperiness from the oak.
    • Finish
      88 88
The oak lasts for a relatively long time. The pepper settles slowly. In addition, the smoked bacon and ashes remain.

Delicious and very edible Caol Ila that you can enjoy on the side; not too complex and with a pleasant strength. For me, the Caol Ila is more on the spicy side.
    • Nose
      86 86
Dry smoke - ashy -, light fruity, the malt comes into the nose and the typical Caol Ila sweetness awaits in the background. With time and water, the malt becomes slightly mineral and I can hear my dried apricot.
    • Taste
      85 85
Strong, spicy start, which has a pleasant sweetness - reminds me of a mashed banana - and a bit ashy afterwards. A pleasantly strong smoke, which is well carried by the alcohol, spreads in the mouth. A bit of bitterness arises - reminds me of something unripe, fruity - for me neither cocoa nor espresso.
    • Finish
      85 85
Relatively long-lasting, smoky and now slightly bitter with a hint of cocoa. The malt warms the throat for a long time and the tannins remain in the mouth.

N: what an entry! Such a sweet peat, it invites you already now to take a sip. The sweet (and also sour??) notes in the nose must be coming from the rum cask.

M: the smoke starts of strong here! It’s like cold ash. Paired with a well balanced sweet taste. I can’t really pin it down though. The cask surely has left an impression without overpowering it. I like it!

F: the cold ash lingers on, as well as the subtle sweetness.

I like it! It’s not crazy complex but still very tasty
