  1. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Already clearly noticeable something different than "real" Vintage Ardbeg, nevertheless a successful, as delicious, experiment.
    • Nose
Oh, you notice the young parts more clearly than I thought, especially in a direct comparison to other 1970s, Tick Karnevalskamelle and Carnation at the beginning, needs a break of at least 10-15 minutes, then it opens nicely to milk chocolate, noticeably sherry-heavy of the vintage Ardbeg- Round through the Oloroso finish, cherries, plum, liquorice, camphor, oiled leather, caramelized walnut, salami, cinnamon
    • Taste
Plum, apricot, hint of clove, salsiccia, camphor, walnut, cinnamon, cherry, liquorice, leather, milk chocolate, nutmeg, dark honey with oregano
    • Finish
Leather, malt, chocolate, salami, rosemary, long

Extremely rare bottling of an Ardbeg Islay malt from 2010 by the Regensburg Whisky Club in a limited edition of only 62 bottles. The Vatted Malt Whisky contains at least 25% from the best years 1966,1972,1977 and 75% from the period before the closure in 1997 - the youngest whisky is 14 years old and the oldest over 40 years old. Subsequently it was matured in a first-fill Oloroso Bloodtub for about 6 months, followed by another 3 months in the Ardbeg 1975 Oloroso Sherry Hogshead No. 4716 for Germany. The label was designed in accordance with the history of that time, Nearly every bottle was different and was filled with different capsules (where an OMC was used), was never commercially available and all bottles were individually numbered per hand by Pit Krause.

    • Taste

Conclusion: 92/100 points - "perfect blended whisky". The Merry Go Round consists of various bottles of Ardbeg, which were distilled between 1966 and 1996. Thereafter, the whisky was filled in a "first-fill Oloroso Bloodtub", where he was allowed to mature for 6 months. Afterwards, the whisky was again transferred to the "Ardbeg 1975 Oloroso Sherry Hogshead no. 4716 for Germany "for another 6 months before being bottled in June 2010 in 62 bottles. The youngest whisky in this blend is 14 years old. Link to my blog with pictures of whisky: http://www.tasting-notes.de/Archive/376
    • Nose
The whisky impresses with a very intense nose, extremely complex and multi-layered, it brings out notes of wood, salt, smoke, raisins and cherries. With longer time in the air one takes notes of tar, ashes and spent Sylvesterknallern was.
    • Taste
Unlike in the nose it is very sweet and shows clear aromas of plums, salted fruits and subtle smoke flavors. Very complex and complex.
    • Finish
Medium long, very sweet finish with light smoke aromas that cover the palate.
