This has a pleasant and very familiar nose. I just can't get the name with it though. It is well matured, fresh, clean, sweet and with a wee sourness to it. It's very lively and playful on the nose upon arrival with a focus on a rather intense fruitiness. I get red berries, apricot and pleasant mild spices from it. After a while and with some hand warmth it develops more of it's darker smells like chocolate and dried fruits. It does have a shy dusty layer on the nose.
It has a nice thick and waxy body. It's very gentle and accessible. Red fruit in like strawberry and raspberry, milk chocolate and mild spices in like vanilla and a whiff of clove and with a fresh grain-like note to it. Dried herbs and toasted oak as well. A very easy going and balanced palate with beautiful old characteristics.
The finish is medium to long and gives mild spices, and again a rather intense fruitiness, soft red fruits and lingering oak influences.
Delicate is the right word for this whisky. Age gave it whisky a nice body, despite it's 42.7% ABV. An interesting blend for an even more fair price.
