  1. DulischM scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

A rather uncomplex, light whisky for a relaxed evening (nice-to-drink). Somewhat reminiscent of a walk in the woods.
    • Nose
Fruity sweetness of dark grapes begins in the nose, with syrup and light gooseberries. Liquid honey and sweet lemon merge into grassy, spicy coniferous forest notes.
    • Taste
The nose is characterized by light, slightly tart berries and fermented grapes. There are also aromas of fresh wood, resin and forest.
    • Finish
Slightly light-colored grapes and syrup can also be found in the finish, but mostly spicy, fresh oak.

Nice surprise - blind tasting: really aromatic nose and good depth. for little money

  7. VintagePaddy scored this whisky 73 points Expert Senior

I expected more. Nice nose, but too inexpressive in taste

  8. Ben Bruikman scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Isle Of Jura Red Wine Cask Edition is a dark golden whisky with a mahogany glow. This variant has mainly spent its time in American white oak barrels that previously contained bourbon. It is then finished in hand-selected European red wine casks.
    The color is dark amber
    • Nose
The scent has notes of sultanas, caramel and forest fruits.
    • Taste
The taste has notes of raspberry, strawberry, vanilla and cinnamon
    • Finish
The finish is medium long with notes of vanilla and cinnamon.

It's more bourbon barrel, not much of Red wine taste.

  10. ekn1967 scored this whisky 79 points Member Senior

This bottle is OK, but lacks a deep experience because of high alcoholic taste and too much acidity.
    • Nose
      80 80
On the nose clearly red wine notes, raisins, sweets, some spice, raspberry, a bit creamy
    • Taste
      79 79
Starting sweet and silky, but very fast turning into more acidity, alcoholic and the typical red wine tannins. A bit spicy, vanilla, leather or even more rubber.
    • Finish
      77 77
A bitter start of the finish, salty, slightly leather, but short finish.

Very bad! The aroma is not bad, the taste and aftertaste are sharp and alcoholic.

Dark amber color with red accents. Light oily.
    • Nose
      80 80
You can feel the influence of the red wine barrels. Lots of red fruit. Strawberries, wild strawberries, raspberries. Traces of varnish and salt. Slightly acidic notes. Red currant. Traces of bitterness, barrels. Dry spices. Nutmeg. Cherries. Notes sweet. Nice nose. One of the most enjoyable of the basic Jura whiskys. There is milk chocolate next to the other nose. Vanilla. Maybe traces of caramel. Some salt. Maybe light herbalism.
    • Taste
      78 78
Salty. Red fruit. Strawberries. Maybe some cherries. Light bitterness of oak. Dark chocolate. A pinch of spices. Spices. Cinnamon and nutmeg. Traces of pepper. Cocoa.
    • Finish
      73 73
Slight bitterness at the beginning. The bitterness of the oak. Maybe traces of cocoa. Some spices. More like spices. Some dark chocolate. Lots of salt. Medium-length finish. Black pepper.

    Pretty alcoholic for just 40%.

  17. sad1977 scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

A weak release, in which malt and beer notes of young whisky were covered with a wine finish. But they are still noticeable...

  18. Robinzon25 scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

A young, snooty wine whisky, a bit rough but catchy.
    • Nose
Intense, sweet wine, berry, with a pleasant creamy note.
    • Taste
      Strawberries, raspberries, spices, bread, tannins.
    • Finish
Short, tart, vinous, berry, slightly harsh, with peppery and oaky notes at the very end.

  19. SimondeVette scored this whisky 77 points Expert Senior

Quite modest, but not bad at all
    • Nose
Syrup, vanilla, honey, lemon, pine sap
    • Taste
Lemon, pine sap, nutty, vanilla, spicy/peppery
    • Finish
Quite smooth, not long, butter, some oak/vanilla

  20. ffmdino did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    a solid malt; Easy drinking
the nose is typical of a wine finish
does not come close to the Bordeaux finish (ID 96233)
    could have used more%
    PLV is OK
    • Nose
red grapes, red berries (tart, dark), typical wine musty note, light oak, slightly sweet, vanilla, light chemical note

from 1920s: tart berries (currant) become more, raffia basket, a chemical note (artificial leather), becomes nutty, bitter, leather, slightly sour note, vanilla comes
    • Taste
      soft, silky
nutty, black rubber, coffee, slightly sour note + ??, a lot of tart berries, tobacco, caramel becomes more, slightly raisin, a hint of oak, slightly spicy
    • Finish
      medium long
Nutty turns out to be more, very tart, mini buttery, red grapes appear, a note that I cannot name

  21. Menko scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

    Nose: Not much going on.
Taste: Not much going on either. The alchohol is, despite the low (40%) level, rather prominent. Not a good sign cause it's often due to a lack of flavor, which seems to be the case here. Like a bottle that has been opened for too long.
    Finish: Doesn't last very long.
The positives: I usually don't like red wine cask finish. This Jura leaves the red wine cask almost unnoticed. Some grapes and iodine. That's about it.
For around 30,- however not a bad buy. In this price range it is what you can expect.

    fine sip, alcoholic Fristi

  24. Vladimir Ziryanov scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

The nose is very closed, or maybe there is simply nothing bright there, but not unpleasant, at least the wine acidity does not slip. The taste is slightly sugary and an extinct match
