Whisky Reviews for Port Charlotte 2010 WBot

The nose is interesting. It has cherry notes with a certain freshness. Something like the Em-eukal wild cherry candies. The special smoke from Port Charlotte is there, but I would have expected it to be stronger after only 10 years in the barrel. It is also "cleaner" here than in some other bottlings. In addition, tree resin and fresh wood.
In my mouth, however, it offers little depth. Relatively voluminous at first. A mixture of sweet, sour and spicy. Actually quite good. But then it somehow gets thinner and a bit flat. What remains is mainly the smoke, which gets a little colder, and oak spice with a certain bitterness.

It's good to drink, no question about it. In the mouth it is a bit too uncomfortable for me.

You can still drink this fairly well. The original is still better. Much better. I am not sure now whether this short finish is really the method of choice. With the color that the whisky has absorbed in such a short time, the suspicion “wet cask” quickly arises. But that can't be true, the alcohol content was kept exactly. Anyways: Worth a try for the curious. Full review (german): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2021/02/10/alle-port-charlotte-teil-4/

Slightly metallic, smoky, peaty. Some bacon and sulfur. You know that from Sherry PCs, don't you?

Apple and fiery spices. Peat and acid. Ginger. Here he has taken in a lot of spice, that is not known from the original.

Sweet and smoky, rounder than the original. Slightly sour in the direction of butter. The spices come back in the end.

As a big fan of the PC10 I was excited to try this one. After all the PC10 is for me the best whisky in that price range (90P) and a additional maturation in sherry cask could further build out the potential. This one sadly falls flat, feels like the PC10 lots its vibrance and energy. Still quite drinkable but not great.
