Whisky Reviews for Balmenach 1970 GM

2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.00 points

  1. St. Pauli scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Nice oldschool Speysider, but with a Highland touch to it. It has a remarkable development from the nose to the finish: from creamy and toffeed, through citrus and dried fruit, to a herbal finish.
    • Nose
Creamy, with caramel fudge, toffee and marzipan, with a fresh salty feel. I get a little bit of honey and wax, and then crêpe suzette. The taste is completed by a hint of fermenting grapes (oloroso), soft spices and menthol.
    • Taste
Rather thin, but not unpleasant. Mainly fruity, dominated by orange and tangerine, then some sultanas, cut grass and mint, almond paste and some soft pepper.
    • Finish
Getting a little more herbal, with grass and mint fighting for the first place. A little honey, still a decent amount of fruit and pepper.
