Whisky Reviews for Teeling Pinot Noir Cask

  1. Don Cassi scored this whisky 75 points Expert Senior

On the nose rather restrained, relatively sweet, tropical-fruity like kiwi, mango, grapefruit.

Very soft in the mouth, somewhat sour and fruity.

Rhubarb, green apples and kiwi on the finish, followed by slightly bitter oak notes.

Solid Irish with fine fruit notes. Could use a little more volume.

    Grade: 2

    I tasted this whiskey blindly.

First of all, the nose gives me the aroma of raisins. There is also a sweetness that primarily reminded me of a pear.

The first mouthfeel feels a velvety mildness, slightly creamy, oily, absolutely pleasant. The sweetness stays. Honey has priority, behind it a strawberry comes to light, I don't taste the cherry from the Pinot Noir part mentioned in the product sheet. But a fruit jam fits the description.

The finish was short, sweet, mild and pleasant.

Conclusion: I would not have thought that I would have a blended whiskey in the glass that is 80% grain. A typical Irishman in terms of mildness. I hardly felt the 46%, which is my favorite strength.

    Dandelions

Another Teeling from the so-called Small Batch Collaboration, again thank to my buddy Benny. A Pinot Noir Cask, no less. I am curious.

Lovely sweet nose on blackberries, cherries and greengages, upholstered with some sour notes from oranges. Marzipan and a hint of dandelions and cinnamon. Very good.

On the palate it is very sweet and a touch creamy, but clearly very young. It does not really bother me, because there is a lot going on. Raspberries, cherries, grapefruit and plums with a mild bitterness from the oak, as if I have bitten on the pith of an orange. Soft vanilla, light citrus. Feisty on spices.

The finish is medium long, both fruity and spicy, with a big dose of ginger all of a sudden, and dies a pleasant, mildly bittersweet and somewhat perfume-y death.

Nice Teeling and not even 50 EUR. I'll gladly fork that over.

A tasty, fruity and warming Irish Whiskey. A variety of dark fruits together with surprisingly intense spices form a wonderful harmony on the palate. Rich, complex, extremely delicate and optimally bottled at 46% abv.

I thank BORCO-Marken-Import for the complimentary sample!

    • Nose
Notes of dark fruits flow into the nose with blackberries, cherries and plums. Behind this, juicy oranges, slightly floral tones, some cinnamon spice and a hint of marzipan arrive. Very nice!
    • Taste
Sweet and creamy on the palate with dark fruit marmalade, mainly cherries and plums, as well as some raspberries. Then warming and spicy with pepper, oak, cinnamon and slightly astringent tannins. Creamy vanilla and allspice are added.
    • Finish
The finish is pleasantly long and creamy with fruit jam and cinnamon. Then it dries out with notes of cocoa, some tobacco, earthy tones and slightly astringent tannins.

With water: After the addition of a few drops of water, the nose is much more powerful. Less fruity aromas, but a little toffee and vanilla, and more spicy notes of pepper, oak and ginger. Sweet on the palate at first, then much hotter with pepper and spicy oak. Warm and astringent. Then creamy fruit notes towards the finish. The finish is still long, creamy and dry with oak, cocoa and earthy notes.
