Wonderful dark amber shines out of my Premium Snifter, occasionally thick and oily "legs" adhere to the glass wall. Roasted aromas and a dark berry aroma rise, a hint of muff and mildew is minimal, caramelized sugar and candied cherries, dried raisins and dates end in ripe plums and blackberries. Old and dried wood tones are in the air, hints of vanilla and chocolate, maybe a few drops of espresso. The alcohol is harmoniously integrated, meadow herbs and a hint of mint are discreet ...
Dark, dried fruit aroma is carried warming through the palate, tart dark wood and a touch of furniture polish come into their own, mint and menthol, herbs and a few crumbs of old orange peel, in the background lies creamy vineyard peach and zest of unripe grapefruit. Sour cherries and sugar beets, slightly resinous with a pinch of "dark, deep fir forest", dark chocolate and espresso end in spicy wood.
The aftertaste starts voluminously with an intense menthol and peppermint aroma. Remnants of dark dark chocolate and wet coffee powder stick to the palate, the dark fruit aroma sticks to the tongue to keep you warm, hazelnuts and spicy wood emerge minimally. After a few minutes the aftertaste fades away creamy and leaves a smeary film on the tongue.
