Unpeated sherry bomb at a cracking price.

Sweet sherry notes pour off this.
    • Taste

Very smooth drinking sherry notes predominate - unlike most Islay whiskies.

      Medium - lingers pleasantly.

  3. Boletus did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

This is a very drinkable malt characterized by pleasant sherry notes from American oak casks. It may be a bit too stringent, but as a daily companion it is certainly not a bad choice due to its carefree drinking pleasure.
    • Nose
A nice chocolate raisin note spreads, vanilla sugar is processed with a dash of lemon juice into a cake glaze, toffee, lemon curd, the barley presents its greasy shiny muscles, sponge cake with canned apricots, mild oak, hints of dried figs as well as brittle leather and mild rolling tobacco , very pleasing in its simple structure
    • Taste
Lots of toffee with embedded chocolate raisins, a dollop of fig jam on a crunchy scone, dark chocolate, "fine cut" orange marmalade, the lively distillate has a fleshy substance, mild oak with an ever-present vanilla, a pinch of allspice spices things up, a little cinnamon and clove powder
    • Finish
Good medium-long finish, hearty malty, the oak is quite reserved and mild, a drop of machine oil greases the lips, very little tobacco and leather, dark mousse au chocolat, black coffee with a large dollop of whipped cream, apple strudel baked a little too dark with raisins, Nutmeg and a pinch of cinnamon, the gentle cloud of vanilla rises from the abyss

For me it does not offer anything better than the 12 year old official bottling. It is still a good dram. I found it full-bodied, sweet and malty with sherry and spicy notes and a medium finish.

  5. Sporx scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    Fresh, one-dimensional, sweet

    Sweet, spicy, round, delicious

    Medium length, sweetie

Being Groot Bunnafan I am always happy with a new expression. This 11 year old unpeated Bunna is no exception, although - for a Bunna - he is somewhat poor in character. This makes it very accessible. The 12 YO, however, actually wins quite easily from this one, which is a shame; you expect something extra from an independent of the Gordon & Macphail caliber. Nevertheless, don't complain: absolutely value for money, tasty sherry matured, great ABV. Just do it.
