  1. ctu scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

It's a serious whisky, and despite the lowest 40% ABV, it's not thin, maybe a bit in the finish. 90/91.
    • Nose
Sherry, prune, orange liqueur, banana, milk caramel, black tea and antique leather.
    • Taste
Ginger orange marmalade. Caramel, honey, malt, cocoa and mint. Spicy oak.
    • Finish
      Long, fruity, spicy.

    Colour:

    Old Gold / Amber Nose:

Orange liqueur, salt, leather, floor wax and furniture polish. But also honey, hints of tobacco leaves, broken smoke, black fruits, elderberries, some tea and rich herbal aromas. After some time in the glass, this whisky also releases hints of black bread and licorice.
    Taste:

Soft, harmonious and spicy with lots of chocolate and some woody furniture polish. Creamy orange marmalade, caramel and hints of mint. It continues with tenderly sour cocoa and cream with a slightly sourish appeal. Butter, mild orange, cereals, coarse sea salt and ever-intensifying black fruit notes of ripe elderberry and blackberries. Underlaid leather and soft herbs underline the overall picture. Fantastic, what gives this malt everything!
    Finish:

Medium-long - salty-spicy-mild and with much accompanying fruit. Oranges, blackberries, elderberries and again leather, chocolate, vanilla, as well as spicy herbs and echoes of oak.

This is lochside at its best, great profile, 93-94 points still about right for me here.

Get some before its too late

N: This is one heavy dense soup. Imagine a sherry infused Ganges river with chesterfield sofas, old oak sideboards and open tins of shoe polish bobbing past the Manikarnika Ghat [instead of cats, dogs and babies], and bottle that! Heavy, potent stuff.
T: This displays full energy despite its low abv and wateriness. It’s body thin but content thick becoming more heathery later on.
F: More on the herbal bitter> sour> sweet candy.
C: Oh yes, a great Lochside that comes in three parts: an old blended soup on the nose, an engaging palate and a commanding finish.

This is even better than some of the 1972 Brora and 1969 Port Ellen Connoisseurs Choice Braunce label bottles.

    Outstanding,
    • Nose
Beautiful, on pecan pie, a little banana, walnut, hints of orange and caramel and fudge.
    • Taste
Very fruity on dark orange marmalade, dark treacle tart, caramel and apricot.
    • Finish
      Medium and sweet.
