A damn honest Kilkerran. Pretty smoky, not expected!

The name Kilkerran is Gaelic and derived from 'Ceann Loch Cilli Chiarain'. That was the name of the first settlement on the site where the town of Campbeltown now stands. The malt is made at Mitchell's Glengyle distillery. The distillery was closed for more than 80 long years, but was redeveloped and reopened by Springbank. The first distillate flowed on March 25, 2004. The 12-year-old was created from 70% bourbon and 30% sherry casks.

  4. Monte Gehro scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Nice standard whisky, kept rather simple, no missing notes. For about 40 € a good price-performance ratio.
    • Nose
Very light smoke, some citrus, caramel, sweetness like from a blend.
    • Taste
Mild, slightly sweet, hardly any smoke (even weaker than on the nose), citrus, somewhat grainy, little oak spice.
    • Finish
short to medium, some oak and citrus.

    First association: Springbank 10
Slightly musty smoke, caramel malt grain
Nice dirt, earthy, dirty smoke, light bite, subtle citrus notes, grain, malt and caramel again

      Sweet, mild, mirabelle, fruity

      fruity, not particularly long
