One can ask what the purpose is, but then what's the purpose of any blend?
I find the concept interesting and nostalgic, and I like the bottles and label design.
This is a lost Islay distillery.
Far from a peat monster, yet the typical briny Islay peat is present. Sweet yellow fruits with an acidic zesty edge.
The arrival is sweet and fruity. Good level of spice, and it grows throughout. And of course there’s peat, it wouldn’t be an “old” Islay without it.
I suspect the main ingredient here is a young Caol Ila.
Medium length. Very warming with an almost menthol note. As the spice fade it gains a lot of sweetness.
