  1. Whisky-Connaisseur did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

This limited bottling of Arran is very drinkable despite its high alcohol content. There is a nice balance of citrus fruits, honey and milk chocolate, with the spicy influence of the cask remaining discreetly in the background. The addition of water is also worthwhile. A basically solid, 10 year old Arran in cask strength, which also pleases in summer temperatures.

I thank deinwhisky.de for the complimentary sample!

    • Nose
At first somewhat restrained on the nose with sweet toffee and a slightly floral note. With time, subtle citrus fruits such as lime and oranges are added, accompanied by milk chocolate, some honey and fine hazelnut cream.
    • Taste
Creamy and sweet on the palate with a sticky fruit of oranges, together with honey and toffee. In spite of the high alcohol content, only a slight peppery spiciness, combined with a pleasant warmth, is noticeable. Hazelnut cream towards the finish with a slightly bitter note of orange peel and subtle oak spice.
    • Finish
The finish is long and creamy with toffee and some oak. Towards the end there are slightly floral notes with dried flowers and a touch of liquorice.

With water: With a few drops of water much fresher and more prickling on the nose with citrus aromas and sweet pineapple, accompanied by honey and milk chocolate. Still sweet and creamy on the palate with lots of toffee and milk chocolate, embedded in a light warmth and a touch of pepper. The finish is still long with hazelnut cream and a touch of dry oak.

Nose: malty, fruity, fresh, grapes and raisins, pears and apples, lime, tangerine, brown bread, some milk chocolate, perfume note, some honey, some floral

Palate: creamy-malty, brown bread, grapes, a few raisins, pears, apples, lime, tangerine, some milk chocolate, a little honey

Finish: warm, medium-long, malty, brown bread, tangerine, grapes, peppery at the back

Rating: great nose, the rest fits. The alcohol is very well integrated, brown bread, grapes and tangerine plus a little milk chocolate. It's pleasant to drink and easy to entertain - a nice refill butt.

    89/100 or 7/10

It's just hard for me to say something, super simple, weak nose, but somehow extremely tasty in the mouth.

    Notes from a blind tasting.

Now that I've read the notes, chocolate, that's where I couldn't compare!
I give the nose a second chance with a lot of time.

A strange introduction, a short fruity breath and then everything is gone. An idea of fermented apples - with a lot of golo will - and something distantly ethereal, that's it. Lid on it! After a long period of standing there is something, apple creaky, still the fermented apples and shortbread biscuits. With movement almost everything is gone again. Even warmth cannot draw anything out at first, apart from alcohol acrid in the nose, before the shortbread comes back at the end.
    • Taste
      88 88
In the mouth it quickly develops a distinct sharpness behind which dark, creamy honey is hidden. In general, there is a dark, subtle, but very tasty sweetness. I'm missing a comparison, but that's great. However, there are no further surprises behind, either. In the second sip, a few bitter substances and a touch of acid are added, which go very well with it.
    • Finish
      85 85
The finish is also a clearly warming, simple fading, medium-long.
