One of the whiskies from the famous book: "101 whiskies you should try before you die, well I can see why!
More and more Kavalan seems to impress me. I’m definitely developing a weak spot for this distillery.
    • Nose
Wow this is a big nose for just 40%! What a big tasty bomb! A little time and hand warmth makes this one explode inside the glass. Incredibly thick nose with loads and loads of flavors. The port cask finish really did it’s job and left a clear mark. It is both youthful and mature. Dried plumbs, sweet apple and red grapes. Dried spices and sawdust. Simply lovely.
    • Taste
Again a thick and full flavored body! Insane if you remind this being just 40%. ABV. Lots of dark flavors here. Again dried fruits but also quite some dark chocolate and stuffed bonbon’s. Lovely and very palatable!
    • Finish
The finish is very long! A bit tart but still within limits. Lovely oak flavors like in oak shavings charcoal and sawdust.

This is a clear buy recommendation!

It is a shame this one doesn't come at higher ABV because that would have made this an brilliant whisky!

Very fruity. Very sweet, some ripe exotic fruits straight from a can. There is some fudge, some wood and in the background indeed some port.
With a drop of water you will get some sawdust.
    • Taste

Very sweet, tropic fruit bomb, a little bite of the alcohol, which goes away quick. Some fudge.
With a drop of water this is getting more open. More fruity notes, but now more apple and pears.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium length. Again fruity, a touch bitter. The port is most noticeable in the finish.
With some water it doesn't change much. Time will let the bitter tone go away.

Extraordinary, incredibly sweet and fruity malt!
    • Nose
Full and incredibly fruity with mango and papaya. With honey, caramel and vanilla. In the background a light spice. Great!
    • Taste
Gentle, again the tropical fruits, very sweet and a little peppery.
    • Finish
At first very fruity again, then the honey comes back. Always drier towards the end.
