The Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the latest addition to the range.
Good value 5 year old Islay. Untamed smoke, tar, pepper and dark chocolate.

A bit weak compared to the other Ardbeg. A nice entry into the world of Ardbeg. Then you are all the more happy about the others in the distillery.

Immediately smoke on the nose. Not as strong as expected, but ok. But then another note comes through that I don't like. Balsamic or something. Kind of sour. In terms of taste, it is not complex. With 47.4% and the young age I would have suspected a certain sharpness, but it doesn't have it. Overall a bit boring. I would have expected more from a little beast. For me a bad buy and very overpriced for the price. Not bad for 5 years, but too expensive for 38 €. I let myself be blinded by marketing.

not too strong smoke, iodine, a bit sour (balsamic?), light fruitiness in the background
    • Taste
      80 80
a bit boring, one-dimensional, no sharpness despite young age, you don't even feel the 47.4%, iodine
    • Finish
      78 78
      short, smoky, iodine

Since I traditionally have big problems with Ardbegs, even with the few bottlings brought out by independent bottlers, I am of course a bit loaded with prejudice ... because I rarely get them through my throat ... but the cheap Wee Beastie is still one of the better ones for me
    • Nose
      81 81
Small wood fire on the beach, some burned tires, putrid, oily harbor water
    • Taste
      83 83
A little thin, it clearly lacks the strong, lush Ardbeg body, otherwise the classic Ardbeg Ten is only dimmed down significantly
    • Finish
      78 78
Relatively short, a lot of smoke and a bit musty to moldy cheese, a bit greasy

    Appearance: Light amber

Nose: Caramel, campfire, light iodine, cookies, apple, orange.

Palate: Iodine, smoke, sugar, caramel, pepper.

Finish: Hot, peppery, spice and iodine.

Overall: Sweet and smoky with lots of iodine and spice. Great nose, but the palate disappoints. Lots of iodine in the finish. Very interesting to try, but the 10 kills this—and costs less.

Not as peaty and smoky as you'd expect and it doesn't smell too "ardbegish". Minerals, citrus and some gentle fruitiness. Wild and unbalanced, but not in an unpleasant way.
Tastewise I had some licorice, peat, citrus and spiciness at the end. Also some malt sweetness.

I don't regret buying it, it is quiet fun to have a dram of the wee beastie - but at the end of the day it can't compete at all with the mighty Ardbeg Ten!

Despite his young age, the whisky was a success. The smell of fire and wood. Smoked fish and smoked fruit. I will definitely buy a bottle to drink with my friends. I want to share this sudden joy.

Very fresh fruit flavor. Dried fruits. A bit of iodine and medical bandages.

      Sweet and soft aftertaste.
