Whisky Reviews for Highland Park 12-year-old
8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 91.96 points
- Either it's the nectar of the Gods, or I still don't understand anything about whisky .. HP-shop - all for 23.
- Taste just after a 9yo old black dumpy. We really go from all to all. Softness against aggression.
You really have to give him time or else we have every chance of missing out.
It's very special, I didn't expect this!
It is very grassy. Dry grass, hay. Aromatic herbs, fragrant tea. Pot pourri. In short: rough.
Ginseng, roots, a little Chinese Baijiu.
Wood, pineapple bark.
Less and less aggressive with ventilation.
We have more and more fruit, citrus, blood orange
A nice dose of camphor and a light peat appear as you go.
The nose starts from 88 to arrive at 91.
In the mouth it is more consensual.
A nice dose of caramel, toffee, vanilla, spices.
Pepper, liquorice, honey.
Plum, old leather, figs.
Slight floral dimension.
Old leather, light smoke, cold ash. Tobacco. It is very animal.

no words, just space whisky!
there was little whisky and time, but that was enough to be enchanted by this nectar of the gods from Orkney Island!
- A very rich, interesting and multi-faceted drink.
First, the aromas of mown grass and burnt sugar are interspersed. But then this dry and juicy smell recedes, and dark aromas take over: dry rose petals and cloves, tobacco leaf and burnt sugar, a little smoke. Candied plum jam, old jam.
The taste is sweet, tart, balanced, slightly mineral and ashy, but full of dark dried berries with the bitterness of leather and tobacco leaf.
The aftertaste is sweet, calm and tart.
- Opened this for my 40th birthday year celebration. A gift from a good friend. An unbelievable dram. A perfect dram.
- My bottle is a USA import. 4/5 QUART. 86.8 PROOF. White screw cap with "BOTTLED in SCOTLAND".
"from the Islands of Orkney"
- Notes by Serge:
A strikingly great HP, this one! Colour: pure gold. Nose: eucalyptus sweets, propolis, wax, pollen… Fantastic. Develops on passion fruits and burnt caramel, fudge… Then lots of heather and dried flowers, herbal tea. Just superb.
Mouth: so salty right at the start! And so bold! Lots of white pepper too. Goes on with tons of dried fruits (mostly figs, dates) and butter caramel.
The finish is very long and extremely satisfying, with some very nice notes of old sherry.
How great! A wonderful old Highland Park, so complex. Imagine the happy Italians who could drink this kind of whisky for quite cheap not so long ago... 94 points.
- http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=200 Color: Amontilado Sherry - Madeira
Nose: Thick, fat sherry, oranges, rose petals, leather, malt, caramel, vanilla, honey, tobacco, almonds with underlying tropical fruit (banana, mango). Spicy-salty raisins, Turkish mocha, dates and figs, then espresso.
Taste: Powerful! Sweet, powerfully spicy, but with still increasing spice. In addition delicious black tea with honey, large pepper compositions, salt, finest sherry, oranges, leather, cardboard, vanilla, tobacco, heather, caramel, smoky wood, nuts, almonds and some cinnamon and nutmeg.
Finish: Super long and absolutely balanced - pleasant wood with nuts, fruits, tobacco, smoke and again this mocha and black tea of the finest quality.
Remark: A hammer part! Unbelievable, what you can get out of 43% perfect whisky!
94 points (nose: 94 / taste: 95 / finish: 94)
