Whisky Reviews for Tomatin 1999
2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.25 points
- First nose fresh, subtle, fruity (red fruits). Then chocolate all lightness. After a few minutes, the caramel builds up. Beautiful depth. Vanilla to finish. On the palate, very intense - we approach the limit with aggression but we do not exceed it. Fruity, honeyed. 10 years ? Looks more. With a little water, you lose deep nose, but it becomes warmer. And the barrels are set back to reveal the character of the distillery: oranges appear to start a tussle with the caramel. On the palate, the texture is more fluid, very pleasant. The finish reveals a note of citrus. Enthusiasm 4/5
- This Tomatin release has been finished for two years in a Tempranillo wine cask.
Tempranillo is a grape variety commonly used to produce rioja, and originates in
Spain. Exotic spices on the nose, Jaffa oranges and an almost savoury note.
Sweet and nicely balanced on the palate. Quite full-bodied, oily and spicy, with
malt and plain chocolate. Slowly drying, with persistent spicy fruit. (302
bottles) selected European markets and Japan.
