Very special malt. If the alcohol weren't noticeably present, I would have guessed a whisky liqueur on the palate and in the finish. Find him almost too cute. Still not bad at all
    • Nose
intense nose, apricot, plum, a little honey, slightly pungent alcohol, quite sweet
    • Taste
Very intense start, again the apricot and plum, but this time very, very sweet, alcohol also quite present here. Honey comes through here too. Spicy and bitter
    • Finish
Strongly spicy, but again very sweet, The fruits from the nose and palate are also present here. In the end it becomes bitter and slightly dry here too.

Already untypically old for Elsburn ... overall round and tasty, but cannot compete with the classic combination of Elsburn distillate and sherry.
    • Nose
      90 90
First fresh mushrooms, then peach and apricot, then marzipan, vanilla, honey, pleasant and intense.
    • Taste
      89 89
Very well integrated alcohol and a pleasantly creamy texture. The honey-sweet taste is accompanied by vinous, rum-like and oaky elements. I like the combination, but it's rather atypical for Elsburn.
    • Finish
      89 89
Sweet honey, light fruit notes and oak bitterness merge, medium-long.

Really very appealing "old style" Glen Els ähhhh Elsburn I mean of course.
Mild, no frills, balanced, spicy, fruity, full of caramel, a little vanilla, the finest oak.

All in all, a totally successful composition, which unfortunately (due to the relatively long storage time for the resin) want to be missing the corners and edges that are still there at 5 or 6 yo.

In my opinion this malt is almost a little above the optimum ripeness, but that is definitely a matter of taste and there will be those who say "oh well, 4 years longer in the barrel would have been good for him, because only then would he be 12".
I don't care about age and when I think of the old Woodsmoked Banyuls they were 5 yo and on top.

Nevertheless, you can get hold of 2 bottles and it tastes fantastic.

Very reasonably priced (it is and remains a SC CS OA), plus a no-frills and beautifully designed cardboard box.
This is not something for over-collectors (no wooden box, no frills), but for selectors like me, who like to have a full and an opened bottle and unfortunately no longer have endless shelf space :-)
