A delicate and rather delicious Japanese creation.
Loved the nose, really liked the taste, so much so that the finish couldn't quite live up to the begining.
Would I buy a full bottle? Sadly I don't think I will ever find it at a price I find acceptable.
I really like the nose of this one.
Clear and clean wood notes, not sure of the type because it's very well integrated with a mix of dark fruits/berries and nuts making it smell like an extremely exclusive hard wood.
Sweet on vanilla notes. Sometimes I get a hint of mint, at another it comes across as some kind of white glue.
From a little distance, not diving nose in, the wood is almost unnoticable and there's more sweet yellow fruit, cooked apple, honey melon and pineapple.
Starts soft, sweet and rounded.
It's not thin, because the texture is almost oily, but it feels very delicate, almost fragile on arrival.
Then there's a gentle build up of pleasant spice bringing with it some more substantial and roasted flavours.
I think there's few 12YO that can show such a range in development with such a degree of ballance and "control".
Sweet, semi-dry, with maybe a bit too much dominance of oak and at times some pure "tasteless" alc notes arising.
The empty glass smell of mild coffee and red currant with icing sugar.
