A sort of stable average for 85 points. Ex-peated cask in this blend, in my opinion, is out of place.
That's something, and in Bimber I always like their ringing crystal clear color, beautiful and light golden!
The whisky is not balanced due to an uneven and fuzzy smoky profile.

    • Nose
      Classic bourbon barrel.
Ripe garden and slightly tropical fruits, creamy toffee, just a little scorched straw, honey, lemon and orange peel, thinner, hot red pepper, ginger, farm.
In the air, a carnation opens.
      Saturation: 8 out of 10
    • Taste
      Rich, bright, thick & dense.
Concentrated juice from fresh apples and pears and even a little tropical fruit, young and burning, bitterness of tannins and dense spices.
Here the smoke from the smoky barrel is already felt more clearly, more in the form of peaty notes, but it is clearly out of place here.
      Sweetness: 7 out of 10
      Saturation: 10 out of 10
    • Finish
Bitterness of tannins and scorched board, fruity sweetness

Aroma: sweet vanilla, coastal wet stones.
Taste: soft vanilla smoke, bird cherry, creme brulee
    Finish: vanilla short

    • Nose
      85 85
Influence of the Laphroaig barrel, muesli with honey, apricots and peaches. Then vanilla and toffee.
    • Taste
      84 84
TASTE distinct, peat, smoke, glowing coal and ash. Then toffee, honey, stone fruit, soft coffee with milk. Balanced and complex.
    • Finish
      81 81
In the finish with pepper and ginger, tingling with tobacco leaves.

    boring whisky.
    • Nose
      83 83
      Spruce needles with resin.
    • Taste
      81 81
a little oak, quite tasteless, alcohol and conifers.
    • Finish
      81 81
      tasteless

  8. VISION_CHEN scored this whisky 69 points Expert Junior

Nose: Sour fruit, Chinese Hainanese mango (if you have not eaten this, you may hate the taste), apple cider vinegar, white wine. The smoke is sharp and dry, but it is often covered by the main sour fruit. To be honest, this fragrance is not very pleasant, and it becomes very boring in an instant.

Drink: Medium-bodied, stronger juice, ginger, smoky, and bourbon barrels. Well, the second sip starts to become unpleasant.

elegant bottle, the label is made of very high quality paper with an exquisite feel - a pleasure, slightly greenish color in the glass
    • Nose
      88 88
Sweet sherry scent, pine scent incense cones, the aroma in the glass becomes more and more interesting and complex over time
    • Taste
      87 87
oily consistency, alcoholic, rum notes dominate, cinnamon, menthol, herbs, as one of the previous speakers said "vegetable smoke"
    • Finish
      86 86
pleasant, no burning, long-lasting finish, the rum notes remain

Conclusion: an original whisky - definitely try it!

Another bold experiment from Bimber Distillery. I must admit that this was a bit unexpected for me.
    • Nose
      83 83
The smoke, which seemed to me at first raw, but then warmed up a little, through which strong oak, baked apples, yellow pear, and vanilla eclair sprinkled with cinnamon persistently emerges. A little harsh.
    • Taste
      84 84
The taste retained most of the aromas fumigated by smoke. The same vanilla and yellow fruits.
    • Finish
      84 84
The aftertaste is smoky, sweet, a little oily.

An Islay cask which is used here to give a peat characteristic!
    nose:
vegetable smoke, intense wood, a little vanilla
    mixed fruit in a compote
a little on malt and almond, back on caramelized oak and lime
    mouth:
bitterness, peppery spices, then cooked fruit, the peat which then returns, but dry, not maritime
a little on the fruit brandy, it stings, the peat is woody and spicy
    finish:
spicy, heat that remains at the back of the throat, smoke more than peat that swirls and passes with the wind.
    Rather short finish.

Well worth trying - it's a really decent whisky - considering it's only 3 years old it's cracking.
    • Nose
      84 84
Soft fruits with a gentle peat on the nose.
    • Taste
      85 85
Initially tastes very smooth - glides across the plate before hitting you with a spicy punch.
    • Finish
      85 85
A nice smack of spice and heat - gorgeous.

Not the first time this distillery – that only laid down casks in 2016 – positively takes me by surprise. Very glad I joined the Klub, thus getting the opportunity to get my hands on one of the 1750 bottles as missing out on numerous open sales before.
    • Nose
Not immediately the nose you would expect reading the label, the Laphroaig cask influence on the aroma’s is well underneath malts, honey, breakfast cereals, apricots and peaches … Gentle dose of vanilla and caramel as well, more prominent toffee and as it stood a little while even a small tobacco drought.
    • Taste
Kinda turning the nose right upside down now: peat, smoke, coal, ashes on top at first, not really much sign of coastal or medicinal notes though as in for instance the Laphroaig 10. More spice (pepper and ginger mostly), oak before toffee and honey sweetness, stone fruits, gentle milky coffee flavors, … Next few sips turn drier like the nose did after a while, bringing up moderate dry fruitiness. Given the obviously young age this shows amazing fullness, balance and complexity.
    • Finish
Firm raise in the peat and smoke as well as the pepper and ginger, long lasting, particularly warming, tingling even at times, bit more tobacco drought too.

  19. holborndrinker scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

The initial whisky was matured in bourbon barrels, before then being further matured in Laphroaig quarter casks and then Ardmore casks. The peat finish is from the casks and not the spirit itself.
