EYE / NOSE
Mahogany. Malt beer, bitter-sweet plum jam, furniture polish, strong freshness, sherry, with toasted bread in the background.
Very strong, a full, voluminous malt even with a little water. Spices, gravy, tart, sweet malt notes, some wood and red fruits soaked in alcohol. Dark cocoa notes and chocolate.
FINISH / CONCLUSION
The sherry remains present, as does the dark chocolate. At first rather dry, later, however, towards the end, fruity sweetness. Minimal, pleasant bitterness, as best known from bitter orange jam. Everything fits together neatly. The malt has a clear direction, but if you are looking for real complexity, this is hardly the right place. More like a brute, heavy saber, because filigree foil. No missing notes, especially no sulfur. Typical Billy Walker. GlenDronach Cask # 1441 immediately comes to mind.
