Whisky Reviews for Royal Lochnagar 1972 WF
5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.76 points
- I like him a lot, he has very nice independent notes that you do not often have.
Papaya, avocado, dry-tropical, lemongrass, slightly salty even, lemon zest, camphor, ginger, white pepper, licorice
Lots of elegant oak, anise, ginger, fennel, camphor, white pepper, eucalyptus, green chili, dry papaya, pear, looks more Japanese than tropical
Long, licorice, the eucalyptus, ginger and some pepper
- An excellent Royal Lochnagar, excellent for any whisky to be honest.
I did not try it with water as it was so good without, there was no need. The oak is there after 37 years but it adds to the profile, bottled at the right time, approaching perfect to be honest.
Unmistakingly Royal Lochnagar on Christmas cake, rum & raisin, dark chocolate, a little coffee with a little cherry mixed in.
Smooth, creamy, chocolatey, hints of orange, forrest fruits at the back, black forrest gateaux.
- The best Lochnagar I ever had. Very Multi-layered and complex.
Wow, what a gorgeous nose. Tropical fruit of pineapple and apricot. Fresh pencil shavings. Herbal notes of mint and camphor. Cough syrup. Polished oak. Sandal wood.
Creamy with a full mouth texture. Oranges and apricot. Grapefruit. Sappy oak developing into more tanninnes. Slightly peppery. Cinnamon.
Long. Bitter-sweetness. Liquorice. Menthol. Well balanced.
