Aroma : apple juice, cider, pears (ripe), mountain ash, dried bananas, pastries, toffee, honey, a little perfume, a hint of minerality (chalk, stones). Sweet taste : sugar syrup, rum, lollipops, sweets with fruit fillings, bananas, berries, apples, lemonade "Duchess", mountain ash with a bitter taste, wood. Aftertaste : malt, fruit (bananas, pears), mountain ash, toffee, creamy fudge, wood, bitterness. Conclusion . A curious specimen. Cute. Light, even, cautious. Banana and mountain ash. Very neatly done. Probably the best souvenir from Sweden. Score 84 (n21t21f21b21).

N: Initially - sweaty feet, hairspray and crisps disguise the more familiar fruity fresh malt associated with Mackmyra - fortunately this subsides. After time, pear, peach and pineapples begin to peak through. The malt is rather yeasty and the wood peppery with banana pancakes appearing and now and I'm starting to enjoy this. The yeast now provides a chalky note. A honey wine is developing nicely with a touch of floral, butter and sugar. After an odd start, the nose has flourished.
T: Light sugary arrival, Wood spice developing, some bitterness there with an acute hit of fresh spearmint and aniseed. Water prevents it becoming too spicy hot.
F: Wood spice lingers as does the sucrose, with a touch of sweet oak. As this subsides a soapy/oily note coupled with butter provides a welcome finish, but its marzipan which has the last word, in the form of a macaroon. Definitive almond presence with the spearmint lingering all the way for a long finish indeed.
C: This is three years old with the maturity and complexity of an older whisky.  I tried this right after the Brukswhisky which i enjoy very much. My first impressions on the nose and the palate for the 1st edition weren't great, but this has really grown on me.  In fact its more complex and certainly more challenging than some of Mackmyra's older whiskies, especially for its fresh bitter menthol notes.  What a great 3yo this is, and what a start for the relatively young distillery.
