... he is now 2 years older, but not necessarily better. The distinct chocolate aromas are missing, it is rather fruity.
    Still a very successful malt!
[Color] = copper / ruby red.

Comparison of 12-yo (OLD version) vs 14-yo (NEW version) Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban
The OLD version consist of well-balanced layers with excellent time development. In first moment of tasting a sweet toffee, honey came to bourbon enforcement ending with rich and full fruity impression.
The NEW version is more intensive in aroma and taste, but timing and taste equilibrium is significantly worse.
First impression is nosing bourbon/spicy hit followed by only slide toffee/honey taste.Quite unsatisfactory is finish. Very dry wood expand over all previous feelings.
Two more years for very bad price (=the same like OLD) 86 vs 83 of 100.

Glenmorangie, i gave you my soul and my body, you were there for all the misery, with a quinta ruban cask and a smooth body, you are bold and velvety, a finish with creamy cocoa works for me, although some people say they taste berry tart, i would say that is quite an art, or maybe reminiscent of rose wine, for me this also works fine, but when you say you taste clear herbs and spices, i say you have clearly lost your vices, either way glenmorangie you were so fine, i was so happy you were mine, i might be losing my mind, but i am sure you are the only bottle of your kind! Glenmorangie, you havent seen the last of me, but this is the final sip after this you are reduced to less than a drip. Till the next drankdozijn delivery, surely it will ship another one of you for me.

  4. Gloin did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

The nose is very fruity, it lacks a spicy contrast, the alcohol bothers. In the mouth it is somewhat flat, the fruity note recedes, acidity dominates, the oak only follows in the second sip.
The finish is pleasing, but does not match the rest.
All in all, this is a somewhat bumpy whisky without a lot of complexity.,
It's a shame, unfortunately no comparison to the Port Wood at the time.
    • Nose
Unfortunately, it starts with a bit of pungent alcohol, followed by sweet fruits, red apples, raspberries, currants, a little lemon too, with a little beer in the background.
    • Taste
Light body, noticeable start, after a moment astringent, tart, red currants, slightly hot, a brief hint of malt and vanilla, in the second sip noticeable oak
    • Finish
The finish is then quite classic, with oak, vanilla, beer, a slight bitterness, medium to long

    Notes from 1/1/15:

Nose: Smells like the color - peach. Light malt, spice, some wood.
Palate: Spicy to start then malty, grassy with a fruity background, slight rancio. A nice balance.
Finish: Ruby porty, fruity, very spicy, leather notes ending on a drier note - colhieta like.

Fruit notes of oranges and mandarins, sandalwood, dark chocolate and nuts. Soft and full-bodied on the tongue. Dark chocolate, nuts and exotic spices. Again the impression of mandarins. Mint chocolate and oranges and sweet oak
